9 years ago around this time the Bucks formed a similar big 3 by trading for Monta Ellis and forming Run WTF.

Time to bring Tony Snell back . He's got 77% in 3s with the Hawks.

Re: Jrue Agrees to 4/160 Extension
His game still reminds me of a smaller Kawhi and not just because of the defense. He's also built like a brick wall, he is practically impossible to push out of balance or force him into a bad decision, he moves at his own pace and when he decides to get to his spots it feels like there's nothing you can do about it, he's just gonna pull up and all you can do is hope he misses. Nothing fancy, just simple, repeatable, strong moves. I'd be comfortable just letting him take every shot in the last 5 minutes of the game and I don't think we've ever had a guy like that (all due respect to Mids and Giannis). I know he's never been that guy but maybe that's the next stage in his career. This is still his prime.
All we need now is to get him to buy into some sort of long term health/performance plan to keep his athleticism and durability up in his early thirties, sort of like Lebron did. If the Lowry types can do it then so can he, and MKE is a good place to get in a groove and just follow Giannis and Suki's routine.
I think we took a calculated risk with a high chance of success.

There were only two options, extend him or watch him walk and have still have no cap room to adequately replace him. The route the Bucks chose gives them a chance to win with him and allows them control of an asset for an additional 3 years minimum. If you think they made a "mistake" extending him, then it means you would have rather let him depart for nothing and then be unable to sign anyone of significance to replace him. I question the thought process of someone who thinks extending him was a dumb move. I would have given you the benefit of the doubt and assumed you jumped the gun with your snap reaction (again) when you saw the inflated numbers Jrue's agent got out there. But then you doubled down on this terrible take even after learning Jrue's contract is very much in line with his abilities and ranking among NBA guards. So I have no choice but to conclude you're either trolling or just not that smart.
There's a lot of irony in someone concluding someone is "not that smart" while claiming "there were only two options" available to the Milwaukee Bucks. If you don't see the issue with paying that dollar amount for a guy with a history of injury issues in his age 31-34 seasons before you even see if your team works is comical. It's like everyone just forgot we paid Bledsoe too early in the game and locked ourselves into him before we actually saw what shook out. The mere notion that this is a "snap reaction" when I've been consistent on the Jrue Holiday extension for months? I don't know, given how you just state things that are wrong, you're probably just not that smart man.

I think I broke my personal record of "and 1s" in a single day.
I asked for this in the last game thread and the next day it happened.
This is our Justice League. Giannis, Khris and Jrue. We CAN'T do something better than that as Milwaukee Bucks. Lets try to win a ring in their primes by trying to fill the roster as well as possible around them. Our only major move in the future should be the coach if we fail this season and nothing else.
Great News!

Re: Jrue Agrees to 4/160 Extension
This is all you can ask for. The 80s, we were close but it was difficult to get by both the Sixers and C's. One, but not the other. The 90s through the Kidd Era was trash. Despite the big 52 win season, it was bad basketball. Awful most of the time.glenn wrote:Really happy to have him extended. I’ve always loved him and glad that he’s going to be a Buck for years.
It’s always going to be a low probability that any specific team wins a championship, so if that’s your only measuring stick for success you are probably going to be disappointed. It’s pretty easy to say, “just wait until we get bounced,” since that’s the most likely scenario for everyone. At this point I’m just happy that my favorite team has some great players and is a legit title threat. And that the trade didn’t end up an unmitigated disaster.
I'm enjoying this. Great basketball, in the running for the championship. Who knows, perhaps the Jrue signing is what is needed to win. Like grabbing Oscar Robinson at 32.

I just saw that there's a fourth year player option.
Khris's player option is 2023-24 when he's 32.
Jrue's is in 2024-25 when he's 34.
Giannis's fifth year player option is in 2025-26 when he's 30.

Re: Jrue Agrees to 4/160 Extension
I think at some point you just gotta roll the dice. Bounced in the 2nd round, well maybe thats what you're supposed to keep doing until that door opens up for you. Lets not forget how easily that Raps championship team could've been bounced in the 2nd round. If not for Kawhi's quadruple boing-boing buzzer beater against the Sixers, and if not for Embiid's sickness in that series, we could be talking now about their bad decisions that led to yet another failure.
And I get it, it's a risk selling the farm for a couple of 30 year olds, you never know when those knees are gonna start hurting. But at least they're not 32 like Harden/Durant/Griffin.
I think if you see a chance to a ring, no matter how small, you roll the dice because you might never get another chance. Better than not rolling it at all and forever waiting for the stars to align perfectly like Danny Ainge's Celtics.

True.
We probably have to win it this year, and if not, figure out how to best monetize Khris in the summer in some sort of reboot deal.
That said, if the team stays healthy and can get PJ healthy, we've got a legit shot over NJ and PHI IMO.
I'd agree with you except depending on PJ is not something we can do, and I don't think we need to.

I think Ray is better than Sam and I don't think it's particularly close. The numbers Ray would've put up if his career was 20 years later is scary.

Big Dog and Ray didn’t win until Sam came along. He was the straw that stirred the drink.

Ray had a better career. But for the years they spent together, I think Sam had the bigger impact on those teams. He was definitely the leader. You can say Ray was better if you want. I won't argue ya. But you can't say he was way better, tho.
