In the Obnoxious Bowl, trying to buzz-kill us Bucks fans with a specious argument seems like a contender to me. I guess he feels the need to try to rehabilitate the Giannis-won't-stay argument posited by Windhorst and others for a long time.

As Markses go, he's no Groucho. Or even Harpo.

Good news, but I'm most happy I don't have to listen to all the brain spasms and meltdowns, both on the board and major media.

I think Giannis appreciates how hard the Bucks have been working comms that he was uninvolved and blameless in Jrue and Bud’s unceremonious ousters.

Giannis isn’t Lebron one step removed from literally representing players. And he doesn’t want to be.

Rather Horst is the cutthroat assassin delivering guys Giannis wants while leaving his PR image sunny and relationships in tact. Respect.

And before anyone argues that Giannis was really uninvolved Lebron straight up called him out on it on TV at the All-Star break when he picked Dame over Jrue.

Then Giannis said publicly he would have made adjustments Bud didn’t vs Miami.

And if he really wanted to keep Holiday no way would he have stood idly by while the Bradley Beal pursuit leaked.

That’s all aside from the private discussions Giannis and Dame have undoubtedly been having going back as far as Lillard recruiting Giannis to Portland pre-Holiday.

Like the article said, Giannis doesn't get involved, but they know where he stands.

Bobby Marks even dug the knife further. Did you catch the "Well, I said the Bucks needed a third team and that third team WAS BOSTON"

i.e. FU Bucks fans, you just made your chief rival even stronger.

Giannis doesn’t need Rich Paul he has Jon Horst.

Not getting into semantics about what would and wouldn’t qualify as involved. I don’t care if Giannis actually used code words with Horst or not.

That and Giannis’ private discussions with Dame obviously were instrumental.

Having a fun time imagining Giannis respond to Horst asking what he's having for dinner "Damian Lillard is a good basketball player"

Windhorst didn't harp on it much, but there seems to be this assumption with media types now that stars will immediately look to bolt if the team has a bad season. Even just a disappointing one like last season, which was fantastic until the plop in the playoffs. Not everyone is James Harden. It took Dame a long time to finally ask out and that was because he saw an extended rebuild coming.

wHaT iF tHe BuCkS hAvE a DoWn YeAr? Giannis never said he was leaving if they had a down year - he just wanted to see that the organization was trying and not going for a long-term rebuild. jfc.

A lot of the conversations about how contracts don’t matter. Feel free to talk about a different guy for a year or two. Windy really leaning into it even more

Windhorst made his career covering Lebron and Lebron has always kept his options open, he's never been tied down for more than 2-3 years at a time. I'm neither remotely interested nor remotely qualified to make psychological comparison between him and Giannis, but its very clear that Giannis has a much better relationship with the Bucks organization than Lebron did with the Cavs, Heat and Lakers.

Windy is just salty because unlike when he lucked into a connection with LeBron and his team, he has zero connection to Giannis and it’s making some of his takes/reporting look silly.

ESPN: Why on earth would Giannis lock himself in on the best team in the league (on paper), the same team that drafted him? What is he thinking? He could have went to Miami and formed a super team with Jimmy Butler and Caleb Martin. Now he's stuck in Milwaukee with Damian Lillard, Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez. What is Giannis going to do if Milwaukee only wins 35 games this season? Oh and there's no hidden agenda to drive Giannis out of Milwaukee.

That's basically my interpretation.
