Is there some scenario where Jrue may think Bud is on a quiet hot seat after this season, so hes waiting to see what happens on that front?

I'm sure Jrue will sign. Don't really see any scenario where we lose him; Horst has shown that he is willing to give up whatever it takes when he wants someone, whether it be trading for them (Jrue trade), or signing them (Middleton extension). What we need to worry about is the amount he gets. Really hoping we don't have to offer him a bigger contract than anyone else could, like we did with Middleton, and he takes an equal contract to what he could get on the open market (or even less than that...but I'm not holding my breath).

I'm hoping we trade Middleton in the offseason though. 3 players making 30m+ is not ideal at all, considering 2 of them will be on the wrong side of age 30 next season. Get a good player in his early to mid 20's, a draft pick or two, and take some salary filler back in needed.

He's also close with Thanasis :D

Jrue gave away the rest of his 2020 salary to people in need due to the pandemic. He's not worried about money. He's a laid back humble dude. I wouldn't be 100% certain he will re-sign, but if he wants to win a championship and play a big role in doing so, where else would he want to go? Personally, I'll be pretty upset if we pay him more than $30M/per for 4 years. He's getting older and he's not a max level player. We'd also be stuck with what we have as far as personnel goes. Hoping for something like a 3 year deal, $75-90M with a player option in the 3rd year. Gives us 3 years of title chasing with Jrue and pays him what he's worth, while giving him the chance to sign with somebody else to chase a ring if it doesn't work out.

Timing this offseason would be interesting for something like what the Spurs did when they traded Hill for the Kawhi pick. I don't know who I'd target yet.

Holiday may like the Bucks and be a loyal guy by nature.

But it's not like he's been with a franchise that cultivated him his whole career the way Manu was when he took a steep discount to stay.

The free agent market has no elite players available and tons of cash to burn.

$30M per and only 3 years would be seriously below market value.

Would love to be wrong but regardless of how laid back or humble Holiday is I can't imagine his agent agreeing to leave so much money on the table unnecessarily.

Bucks don't have leverage either. Letting him walk is way more damaging than overpaying.

We have no assets to replace Jrue if he bails and the sheer incompetence of it could instigate Giannis asking out.

I don't necessarily see a reason why Jrue wouldn't want to re-sign here, but I guess I'm not really as confident as a lot of people apparently are. He very well could view this team as not being the best situation for him, and teams like the Knicks, Spurs, Mavericks, and Heat will all have plenty of cap space to spend. Always a mistake to just assume what a guy's intentions and motivations are, unless of course you're Giannis....

And yeah, y'all better brace yourselves for a minimum of 4-yrs $120 million. I can't see any way he signs for less given the current market and barren free agent landscape.

Last night Jrue was on an IG Live with Jordan Schultz and just raved about how the Bucks organization helped his family transition after the trade, he couldn’t say enough good things.

Attribute all of it to Giannis and Bud. (and some minor credit to Horst for a few shrewd moves (Bledsoe and Hill trades, Lopez FA signing)

Could be. I don't think he's a fan of Bud, having done interviews where he talked about liking to switch more on defense. If the Bucks go with an early exit and he feels coaching was a reason, I could see that and money as decisive factors.

My impression is he loves Bud, as Bud has adopted Jrue's play style while remaining an absolute players coach.
