To generate a bit of conversation, here's my question: In your sports fandom, does anything top this game?

Here's my top 3:

1. 2015 Wisconsin Badgers Final Four victory over Kentucky. Probably only #1 because I was able to attend.
2. Bucks in 6. (wasn't able to attend)
3. 1996 Packers super bowl victory

What say you?

I was also there, and I've never experienced anything like that game. I can't describe the way my body felt. It was like I was being electrocuted but in a good way. It was so wild.

This was second.

I'm not sure what third is for me. Honestly it probably isn't either of the Packers titles in my lifetime - I love the Packers, more than most probably, but they're still further down my sports fandom totem pole. Maybe David Gilreath's punt return to open the Ohio State game, or the LSU game at Lambeau, or maybe walking into the Rose Bowl for the first time.

ETA: Oh, Nadal's first Wimbledon win way back when was quite the feeling.

Jrue had the most assists in a playoff run for the decade, going back to Rondo in 11-12. Recorded 199.

It's the 11th highest all-time with Magic, Rondo, Nash & Stockton above. LeBron, Westbrook right behind him by an assist. Then Magic & Stockton & Draymond.

Giannis scored the 14th most points all-time, 20pts behind DWade in 2006, 1 pt above Kobe in 2008.

My top 10 sporting events are as follows:

1. 2021 NBA Finals, Game 6 - Bucks 105, Suns 98; Bucks win series 4-2.
2. Super Bowl 45 - Packers 31, Steelers 25.
3. 2019 Champions League Semifinals - Liverpool 4, Barcelona 0; Liverpool advance 4-3 on aggregate.
4. 2008 Game 162 - Brewers 3, Cubs 1; Brewers clinch Wild Card and make the playoffs for the first time since 1982.
5. 2014 NCAA Regional Final - Wisconsin 64, Arizona 63 (OT). Badgers advance to their first Final Four since 2000.
6. 2015 NCAA Final Four - Wisconsin 71, Kentucky 64
7. 2019 Champions League Final - Liverpool 2, Tottenham 0.
8. 2016 Europa League Quarterfinals - Liverpool 4, Borussia Dortmund 3; Liverpool advance 5-4 on aggregate.
9. 2015 NCAA Regional Final - Wisconsin 85, Arizona 78.
10. Super Bowl 31 - Packers 35, Patriots 21 (I was still a kid back then, so the memories don't stick in the same way).

Honorable mentions:
2005 Champions League Final - Liverpool 3, AC Milan 3; Liverpool wins on penalties. (Would be higher because it's arguably one of the greatest comebacks in the history of European soccer, but I had only started following Liverpool at that point).
2018 Champions League Quarterfinals - Liverpool 5, Manchester City 1 (aggregate score; both legs were fantastic).

Just want to update you all on two things.

1. Still waiting on my parcel, still no update since the 25th when it left the UK apparently.
2. I went back last night and can confirm KD did indeed put his foot on the line in Game 7.

Do you guys ever click back to read some the old threads here where we got into arguments about the virtue of re-signing John Salmons?

It's funny now in hindsight.

That 2nd half run by Salmons in the FTD season was something special. He was cooking everyone that lined up across from him.

Yeah he was going to be my out of the box nomination for Bucks you most enjoyed watching.

Star shone brightly for a while there, like Jeremy Lin.

After we moved to Milwaukee, for a long time the family used to go to the Bradley Center to watch so many games. Those were often the $10 tickets; that to the four digit $ ticket to see Game 6 where we became the Nba champions after 50 years. Has been an incredible journey. I love the Bucks so much.

Bud in the TV booth at the Brewers game talking about how it seems as if game 6 was a couple days ago and yet he's getting ready for camp starting in 3.5 weeks.

I agree, I'll be sad when this off-season is over

Yeah, we haven't had much time to bask in the glow.

There's also too much stuff going on around the world and locally in all countries to dwell too much as well.

Even when they raise the banner I still don't know if I'll truly comprehend it. Maybe it will be when we're crowned champs again next year :D

1. This - I didn't think our small market team would ever win the title. The NBA would never allow it. But then doing so overcoming Marc Davis in pivotal games and Giannis averting serious injury (the initial moment of which hit me with an existential crisis freight train) is still hard to fully imagine.

2. 1996 Packers - What a fun season. There was a sense of inevitability about that team. They had a mid-season slump, but a Doug Evans pick 6 put them right back on track. Then Desmond Howard was good for a TD or two a game - never seen anything like it. And of course prime Favre and Freeman. Oddly, their championship drought was like 20 years shorter than the Bucks', and that was thought to be an eternity.

3. 2010 Packers - so great to see Rodgers get his revenge on traitor ass Favre, and TT get his vindication. The span from the 2009 NFCCG was amazing: Vikings lose on a Favre interception in OT, Rodgers sweeps them the next year, the stupid metrodome collapses, Favre ends his streak, Rodgers goes super saiyan in Atlanta after them talking trash, beating Chicago and their loutish fanbase to get to the SB, and then beating another loutish fanbase to win. Amazing.

I didn't until he came up in the 'favorite players to watch' thread. I was happily on the right side of that argument. The FTD run was fun of course, but that entire situation made me irrationally angry. I wanted nothing to do with resigning him.

Yes, it is funny in hindsight how little it mattered :D It's also funny how small his "horrible" contract was. So much has changed in a decade, in more ways than one.

We got the Salmons jab step gif though, so the contract was 100% worth it.
