Bucks get: #1 ( Flagg ) / Reaves / Zac Collins / Patrick Williams / 2025 Bulls 1st / 2029 Lakers 1st / Bulls 2027 1st / Bulls 2029 1st
Bulls get: AD
Mavs get: Giannis / White
Lakers get: Gafford

The problem with a trade like this is the Bucks won't compete for several years (Flagg is good, but he's 18). And they won't benefit from getting high draft picks for the next 5 years. So might as well take on some salary (AD) and compete. Why be bad and have no draft picks?

Another Variation would be to include Pelicans - Get the Swaps back so you get your 2026 1st back and would still have a 2027 1st ( ATL pick rights )

Bucks get: #1 ( Flagg )/ Murray / Zac Collins / Patrick Williams / 2025 Bulls 1st / 2029 Lakers 1st / Bulls 2027 1st / Bulls 2029 1st / Pick Swaps back from Pelicans
Bulls get: AD
Mavs get: Giannis / White
Lakers get: Gafford
Pelicans get: Reaves

I'd do Flagg & Lively, w/ our own picks folded in from NO, but let Dallas come to you. Don't want it leak to Giannis if the move falls thru nor signal to NO we're moving on so they hold tightly to those picks.

If Giannis asks out, it's going to be harder to get our picks back. Might need to pursue the 2 younger core player for 1 options - like Amen/Sengun. For the Spurs' deal, we'd have to get the 1st pick or both back from NO still somehow. Then I'd want to be bad w/ Castle, Harper, picks, & then re-route Vassell to Houston for Sheppard & Whitmore. If we can't get our picks, take Vassell. Hopefully we're decent immediately.

Generally I value prospects/picks with faces already attached. It's not wild cards if they're the names I'm talking about. Horst can't screw up Flagg or Harper or prospects like Castle. Plus they already put you on a path to contention, instead of twiddling your thumbs.

In the meantime we're floating '31 1st for Reaves type deals. We don't need to be great around Giannis. But we need multiple guys we can squint & see as 2nd, 3rd options. Elite shooters. And 2-way rotational guys. W/ a good coach. Then you don't have to sell this as a gap yr.

Anyone listen to Hear District’s latest pod yet?

The MVP Point Giannis descriptor makes it seem like that pitch is much more than Eric Nehm speculation:

ESPN NBA reporters Dave McMenamin and Jamal Collier join Marques & Kris on Hear District this week to filter through the noise surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo's summer and explore how the Milwaukee Bucks can best build around him moving forward. They dive deep into Giannis' relationship with Bucks GM Jon Horst and how that dynamic could shape the Bucks' offseason plans, including potential strategies to unleash 'Point Giannis' and set him up for an MVP campaign.

Praying that Horst can somehow snag Austin Reaves this offseason to start building the Giannis post-30 core. He surprised me with the Dame deal. I think he’s got more up his sleeve.

I wonder what Claxton would go for.

Mke: Reaves, Vincent
Bkn: Kuz, ‘31 1st
Lal: Claxton

Last year at this time, Claxton was probably worth quite a bit more, but his production took a step back, and now he’s getting paid quite a bit more.

I would guess Brooklyn would just take Reaves in this hypothetical but this would be a huge win for us if we could do it.

Seeing too many ideas with the Bucks chasing PGs or combo guards. We need true wings. I'm fine with Bobby and Sims at center. I'll gamble on KPJ and Rollins at PG. However, we don't have anything close to viable SF, and we actually need 2 forwards.

Let’s talk Reaves.

I agree that I’d prefer to find a creator wing, but that archetype is in short supply. If we ever found one, I sure hope we wouldn’t trade him while attaching assets.

The players worth an unprotected 1st these days are much more likely to be guards, and at some point you have to consider the value play.

A first for Reaves while losing KPJ makes me nervous. I agree with Sox, that there may be some Brunson in him when he gets the opportunity to move up the hierarchy, and I think he’d bring some skills we don’t have a lot of (capable scorer from every range, confident driver on good volume, shockingly elite finisher, and he has enough size/feel to make the passes he needs to), but I worry about the D, and I especially worry about the subsequent loss or under utilization of KPJ. I’d rather build on top of what we have than replace parts.

Who are your wing targets of comparable value?

Brooklyn and Utah are probably the biggest losers from the lottery. I question what their plan was anyways, but falling to 8th pretty much seals that they're not gonna do anything other than sell off more assets/cap space and tank again. Which is why I'd wonder if we could revisit a Cam Johnson trade. If they'll finally get real about their asking price, then Kuzma plus the '31 first could be something to throw out there.

Cam would be absolutely awesome here, but I really worry about his durability. The most he’s played the past 3 seasons is 58 games.

I thought I remembered seeing a Kuzma +’31 1st for Cam and #27 on the trade board a while back, and I’d absolutely do that one.

The Austin Reaves idea is great. Except that there is no way we can afford him.

He's on a plane with a guy like Mikal Bridges who went for five #1's.

No one's giving up anything close to a Bridges haul for Austin Reaves. Especially not after the series he just had.

And I'll be that guy. I'd gladly take Jrue back for Kuzma and Pat if Boston throws in #28.

I don't think this is close but I do think it would cost more than Kuzma and our 1st.

Last Giannis Trade Idea for awhile

Spurs get: Giannis
Celtics get: Vassell/14/MEM 2027 1st
Grizzlies get: Brown
Bucks get: Castle/Bane/2/ ATL 2027 1st / Spurs 2029 1st / Spurs 2031 1st

Other smaller pieces would need to be involved to make $$$ work.

I don't think that's the case because he's coming off a rough playoffs. So it's stock down. Don't know if it was ever as high as Bridges cuz of the clear 2-way play. Bridges also was a quasi-creator in Brooklyn.

And Phoenix traded their '31 1st for 3 1sts in earlier drafts that were projected lower, like the Knicks' picks. We can throw in Smith too. We'll see if a s&t for Trent or Bobby is useful as well. I don't think we're far off here. Whether or not we'd get there is another matter.

I'm not naive enough to believe anyone's gonna be fooled by Kuzma anymore, but Boston's situation now pretty much necessitates them getting out of luxury tax hell. The more I think about it, the more sense it makes. They can just bump up Pritchard next to Derrick White, and the 28th pick is a meager cost to dump Jrue's final two years. Giannis gets his former championship buddy and he's still useful enough for us to tread water as an elite defensive squad. Wait for Dame to recover and try to go on a Miami type playoff run or two. I'd obviously ask for more but that's what I'd settle for.
