The thing that Sessions does that I hate is he stops his dribble a lot. Why? What good can come out of it?

Re: 1/12: Woelfel: Conley deal waiting for Herb (poll added)
this just in from yahoo = a possible explanation for why conley has looked so bad until last night's game.
G Mike Conley had his best game of the year on Friday, with 18 points, six rebounds and four assists in 30 minutes. Conley finally had the freedom to call plays, something that wasn't possible under fired coach Marc Iavaroni, who called nearly every play. It meant Conley and whoever else was playing the point had to look toward the bench no sooner than they crossed over half court.
m y thoughts= a lt of times a coach screws up a player or the player is jus t not the right fit for the coach's system. perhaps that was the case with Conley. .

looking at conley produce strongly in a system that suits his abilities, like he has today against the thunder: 15pts, 9asts, 5 rebs, 1 stl and just one turnover, makes me think that we should have pulled the trigger on this trade if we could have gotten a pick in return. Now that Hollins is coaching though, i don't think memphis will make the trade because conley will sure his true skills.
Alexander is a long-term project, but as many have stated before, we need players that can be effective immediately.
How i wish we landed Jeff Green instead of Yi in the 07 Draft. The boy would be perfect on this team.

Yep. I'd still make the deal. But I'm starting to disagree more and more with Hammond as the days pass.

Hollins supposedly wants to keep Conley and according to the article I read is going to give him more freedom.. We should have made this deal because I believe he is capable of regularly producing on this level.

Yep. It's going to look A LOT worse if Sessions walks this offseason too.

Some believe this deal is still available to us...if that is true then we might as well make it happen, but I think this deal is long gone.

Just saw this from Reed's post above. Hmmm, does this ever sound familiar...don't remember where I've heard it (and it wasn't only me saying it).

Sessions is a nice young player but the more games he plays the less impressed I have been with his PG skills. With time, perhaps he will regain some of that balance he seemed to have so naturally last season.

True, but he's still a young asset. The bottom line is if Hammond knew he was not going to retain Sessions, this deal became Alexander for Conley/2010 Lakers first straight.
I'm absolutely ill we turned down this trade.

Sessions is definitely a young asset. I just think Conley (actually always thought) has the higher ceiling and even though he doesn't shoot as well as Sessions will be the better long term PG with the right guidance.

Yep. Conley has the higher ceiling. That is why this deal should have been done, and that is why Herb Kohl couldn't judge basketball talent if it ran him over with a Mack Truck. And that is why the Bucks are the Bucks.

Yep, too bad we couldn't follow this up a move like this with us also finding a way to grabb Brandon Rush from Indy.. he seems to have lost his confidence and with Redd out and RJ not playing well, he could get plenty of minutes to build that confidence right back up!

If Kohl was really the one who nixed this trade, its just beyond frustrating.
It looks like it will never matter who our GM is. Harris, Hammond, Thomas, Dumars, MJ, who cares? Herb calls the shots and that's the bottom line.
At the worst, Conley busts (I'd be STUN if he doesn't end up better than JA), and we get a role player from the Lakers pick. I just don't see us re-signing Sessions so this would have been a good low-risk, high-reward move.

Couldn't agree more Reddzone. I'm too frustrated with Hammond/Kohl to even respond with any more. But hey, we're signing Kareem Rush so that makes up for it.

Trading Ramon is a bad idea. If Kohl nixed it, then it's likely he'll be resigned. I'm not sure why there is a fear he's going to walk. Moves will be made to clear some space. I'd rather trade Ridnour anyway.

Not for Conley it's not.
