Can confirm, Yuffie is a blast to play. Forgot how difficult these battles can be; jumping in having not played in a couple years was difficult, because they throw you right in. But her mechanics have me excited to see what they do with Red, Vincent, and maybe even Cid (maybe making him more of a dragoon?).

Also, this seriously looks great. Can't wait to see how it does, and excited to play it eventually.

Wrapped on the Yuffie DLC in ~7 hours. Great fun - goofy, solid story, and excellent combat. More hyped for Rebirth now, too, so I guess it worked out well to not play it on release. Great way to spend the day off :)

Two things I'll hide behind spoilers.

Spoiler:
Bad - hate that they incorporated anything Dirge of Cerberus into this new world. I was hoping we'd leave that weird (even for FF7 standards) bull by the wayside. Nero is dumb, Weiss is dumb, the DEEPGROUND is dumb. Didn't ruin my experience, but elicited some real heavy eyerolls in the last hour or so.

Good - love that they ended it as NOT goofy, even if it involved some Nero bull. Gives Yuffie some more personality to not just be all goofy all the time. And her catching the plate drop at the end (and getting a new view of it) was a nice cherry on top.

Also the last cinematic was beautiful.

Downloading the demo now. Will play the first chapter of that (the one that carries over) more casually over the next week.

Ok time for speculation.
Spoiler:
Is that non-snakey Rykard you are fighting and Miquella at the end with the blonde hair? Edit: NM I see it's a new character Messmer

Only played about 25 hrs of Elden Ring when it released and then quit.

I just started a new character last week and have about 10 hours in. Is there any point in using a shield? Most players I watch are two handing weapons.

I also killed an NPC and got better armor but now I’m heavy, not sure if it’s worth it or not.

I’ve committed to beating this game, hopefully can do it before June.

I generally don't play with a shield, but I also know the game inside and out. If you're in an unfamiliar area I think a shield is fine, so long as it's a good one.

But for sure don't wear armor that makes you fat roll. That's definitely not worth it.

About where are you in the game? Maybe I can steer you to a place you might wanna check out for better gear.

Yeah fat rolling is one of the worst things in souls games. Shield builds are 100% viable. Just make sure to pick a direction with your levels like everything toward vigor and strength for the time being (a bit in endurance too).

I’ve just been exploring. I just went south and killed Leonine Misbegotten at Castle Morne.

Haven’t killed Margit yet.

Any good PS5 deals/bundles out there? Worth it to go slim vs. regular?

I purchased Elden Ring on a sale like a year ago and have yet to start it. It's not exactly the type of game I normally play. I have it and Witcher 3 in my backlog waiting to be played. I don't know what type of build or where to begin in either so perhaps I've just been overwhelmed.

Literally all I want to do is play Stardew on my Mac with a controller, and not a goddamn thing I do will make it work. Vanilla, with mods, replace core system files, Steam Input Enabled, Steam Input Disabled, delete the Steam version and use a GOG version...nope. I bought a new Xbox controller because the 8BitDo Ultimate I had been using wasn't working. Doesn't matter.

ETA: Six hours later...a thread from literally three weeks ago gives me a solution that works. Not sure I even wanna play anymore. This **** game.

It is done; I have finished Baldur’s Gate 3. I only played checks notes 260+ hours. :o Probably my new RPG GOAT? I’m not sure what to do with myself now.
