Re: OT: Video Games/Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos
I just checked and I paid $264.99 for my RAM in October. Clicked the link and it's completely sold out on Amazon and it's $550 on Newegg.
Finally starting to get the hang of Arc Raiders. What to do, what to keep, what to go for when doing runs. I'm still not great at the actual fighting part but that will come with time and as I get better weapons. Ended up grouping with 2 strangers las night and we must've played for 2-3 hours together. Game is just too fun. They really nailed it with this one.

I've been contemplating Arc for a while now. It looks fantastic. I am a little worried though I'd struggle in combat, expecially as more of these streamers form alliances in whatever this war that is going on. I'm still really enjoying BF6, though I wish the group I played with was larger as we usually dont have a full squad or online players at all.

I've only played for about 6 hours or so. But I've found that more often than not it's 3x3 battles. One squad vs one squad. Occasionally a third party comes in. Now, when you get to the later maps with bigger bosses is where you might find the bigger groups. But it's super fun when you see a group in the distance and try to decide how to approach and attack or just keep it low key and be friendly. I've had some intense battles in hallways and stuff. And I'm by no means good at third person shooters.
There is also plenty of PvE battles. I was just in a round where we were trying to extract and you have to wait for the elevator to come. Right as we called it in a rocketeer comes and was just sitting by us. Had the first guy go to the lift and press the button while two of us sprinted a couple seconds after while getting blasted. Lots of laughs and at $40 it's hard to beat.
Now that I'm starting to learn the basics more I go into each run with a specific goal in mind and I'm enjoying it more and more. I know what materials I need, where to get them, and have some strategy.

My tip for ARC Raiders is don’t underestimate the robots.
I’ve had a few solo runs where I die to ARC and boy is it embarrassing crawling on all fours and yelling for a defibrillator after getting knocked by ARC.

Anyone have any gaming monitor recommendations? I'm a bit puzzled at the range of options.

That depends on your purpose for it. When it comes to gaming, which resolution do you prefer—1080p, 1440p, or 4K? And you’re budget.

1440p, around $500 give or take.

Personally, I would choose an Odyssey OLED monitor because it offers excellent color accuracy, particularly in darker areas. And they are one of the best monitors available today, if I’m not mistaken.https://www.amazon.com/samsung-oled-odyssey-freesynctm-warranty-ls27dg610snxza/dp/B0DHJD894W/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=32441EMO7EO5D&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.PTR50ZqG4v6mJ_tDJtnCbTlObTugXvJcXGJImuLijuNknzzuj2BpSJJjwDAldWITu_OPEt3aYXF54kT0tS8uVbBLGE0l0AOGolxjiMGe6XOcs6W9aCeNEPGVuc-SiUtogxJwApyxX-BboIMeI-Wz9sUOT5qnlbTsPASj0NP6fGwOSCNp3hy3KLPdikNVKmZi4Ub3AatzLgS73DEi__2D2A.wu6P0TkDbB3rKldEEua2K-f9EmEylIs5Kt1mXnY4ip4&dib_tag=se&keywords=1440p+monitor+oled&qid=1764134532&sprefix=1440p+monitor+il%2Caps%2C291&sr=8-3

Thanks for the recommendation! That was one of the options I was considering.

Haven't played any yet, as I haven't built the computer. This is the build, though:
5070 TI
AMD Ryzen 9 9900x
32GB DDR5 CL36
Samsung 990 2TB NVMe SSD
Cooler Master 850W v2 modular power supply
MSI Pro x870e-wifi motherboard
Cooler Master MasterLiquid 360L Core ARGB Cooler
This is my first gaming desktop ever. I'm usually a console gamer, where I play mainly sports, open world adventure games, and some FPSs.

Pretty excited, ordered the GPD Win 5 through Indiegogo and it seems like I should have it Friday. First Handheld gaming PC available with the AMD AI Max 395 chipset. Should make it a 1080P native handheld high settings capable device. Benchmarks for that IGPU are pretty nuts, landing between a RTX4060 and 4070 laptop variant. It will be nice not to have to dump everything to play handheld on more challenging to run games, if you can at all.

if youre interested in like LoL or Counterstrike/fps games you want a higher frame rate monitor. I'm a big fan of the LG UltraGear series.

They have a lot of options. I have the 32inch 165hz monitor and love it for generally everything

Thank you! I've got that one sitting in my cart as well. Waiting to see if any bigger deals drop.
Edit: I'm also looking at this one - https://a.co/d/iJdvVwZ
According to reddit, it's an updated model.

I have an LG C4 OLED tv I use for gaming and it’s awesome. Before that I had/still have some ASUS monitors that have been great.
Only advice, avoid Samsung.

Won't be me, but if you're interested in a Switch 2 and you're a Sam's member, you can get $100 worth of gift cards (5x$20) for $80. Purchase and redeem $400 worth and you can get a Switch 2 bundle at Nintendo.com for 20% off.

Final build - all parts are ordered. Monitors are being reused for the time being (2k IPS) but will upgrade maybe later in 2026 or 2027. This is heavily a work station also, so IPS is probably what I stick to, but may try to upgrade to 4k and faster refresh.
