Middleton will be coming off the bench tonight, according to Chris Haynes.

I don't think that indicates anything trade related. It's just wiser for our rotation

Sources: Milwaukee Bucks star Khris Middleton is returning for tonight’s game against San Antonio Spurs and will come off the bench as the team tries to find continuity in starting lineup.

“I can’t sit here after that and be excited about anything,” Kerr said. “[Trayce Jackson-Davis] scored 19 points. Great. He’s having a good season. But who the hell cares if we’re not competitive? If we don’t have a competitive spirit, a fight, and a willingness to compete through everything. I'm not gonna sit here and talk about any so-and-so had some points. Great. Who cares? It's about us competing. Being the Warriors. Being the team we've been for 10 years and not feeling sorry for ourselves. That's what I'm thinking about tonight.

Sounds more like Jimmy Butler would feel about as similar in GSW as he did in Minnesota where the competitive spirit wasn’t up to his standards…. Maybe Andrew Wiggins is the X factor here and he gets moved for Butler anyway but Miami isn’t taking Wiggins contract and there’s really no other way to make that work for GSW unless you’re including Draymond.

It’s becoming comical that all these teams that are showing interest in Butler just think they can dictate the outcome of this trade like Pat Riley isn’t just as equally as shrewd as Danny Ainge when it comes to this stuff and the contracts teams are trying to get rid of are the anti contracts Pat Riley wants to add to his books….

I’ll give Horst some credit here with how crappy our salary situation looks on paper and us being a 2nd apron team, our path to a mega trade looks way cleaner than these other teams we are theoretically competing against - LAL, Phx, GSW, Denver….

Not really disagreeing with your overall point. But just adding that Wiggins has been back and fine/good this year. Maybe that family health stuff that messed him up the last year or so has been cleaned up, IDK. So his contract is 2/58 after this year, with the second year being a player option. In this day and age, that isn't bad as long he's back and playing. If he's gonna have to take another leave and be mentally checked out, then yea of course not. If somehow things got moving with a multi team trade and we end up with Wiggins instead of Mids I'd probably take it at this point. Assuming you've done your homework on his family situation and it seems good now.

Apparently Khris has been informed that he will be coming off the bench moving forward.

Start Green and play him 30 mpg.

Bringing Khris off the bench is the move on the merits.

But it still speaks to the situation we’re in starting Taurean freaking Prince.

Whether we get Jimmy or someone else we gotta get some more athleticism in between the mummies in our front court.

I got a lot of concerns about Wiggins…but it’s notable the Bucks have been tied to him before, and supposedly his game has recovered after the post-championship nose dive amidst family crisis.

Either way I could see Miami not wanting to risk Wiggins taking his player option and they lose out on max cap space in 2026.

It was very obvious after that Portland game that Khris would be asked to come off the bench. Doc's press conference wasn't the most subtle about it. Khris cannot guard consistently anymore.

Khris as Joe Ingles is not a bad thing as a basketball fan. But if you look at basketball as a business, he's just too expensive for that role.

Meanwhile:

Read on Twitter

“First of all, that’s total bull***t. Stop it, man,” Barkley ranted in response to Shaq.

“Hey, this is not the podcast,” Johnson quickly interjected after hearing Barkley drop the S-bomb on live TV.”

“I’m sorry, I apologize,” Barkley said. “I don’t wanna hear all that stuff. This is all about money. So don’t tell me he got no joy or all this. He wants a long-term contract. Don’t give me that.”

Sadly I think the Joe Ingles shout out is appropriate at this point. Which is why I'll keep banging the drum that Khris needs to be the small-ball 4 for this team if we really wanna hang with the real contenders in the playoffs. I get moving him to the bench from a practical standpoint, but I can't completely ignore the timing and optics around doing this now.

The extremely long ramp up, the Shams bomb that said the medical staff had cleared him weeks before he finally suited up and basically implied the organization was getting annoyed. Now the Jimmy trade rumors? Don't think it's really just Jimmy either. Everything seems to point to Khris being firmly on the block for anything they'd deem as a potential upgrade, and I can't say I disagree. It's just business.

Do we have confirmation that Jimmy "hates" Milwaukee? I mean, didn't he star at Marquette? I assume he knows the city fairly well. I would also assume he would enjoy playing with Dame/Giannis, especially if the Bucks were open to an extension with him.

After they beat us in '23 playoffs he was like I'm getting the f--- out of this city. That's exactly why you buy the smoke. He lived here & voiced he doesn't like it.

team played pretty well all things considered in the games without giannis and dame leading. makes sense to work him back like this and he can lead those units

Playoff Jimmy, Dame, and Giannis would be a helluva post-season experience. I'm in.

Let's not trade for Butler and say we did.

Would you rather trade Middleton and ‘31 1st, plus whatever else is needed for salary matching for Jimmy and give him the contract he wants or BI and give him the contract he wants?

Ingram doesn’t play much defense and is always injured, not a playoff riser. Also do not want Julius Randle. In a vacuum I’d probably take him over Khris but I don’t have interest unless heavily discounted.

If guarding consistently is the barometer, is it going to be weird with both Midds and Dame coming off the bench?

Middleton averaged 24.7 more ppg than Jimmy on last years playoffs.
