Biggest rally in 5 years. It's days like this where I think "time in the market > timing the market" for long term investors.
You'd have to be a genius, have inside information, or just plain lucky to have predicted this jump.

It's been a wild ride, just stay the course. As has been talked about here, last year the top 10 days in the S&P brought a 20% gain. The rest of the year brought about a 4% gain. Not smart to wade in and out. Over the last 20 years if you missed the best 10 days in the S&P your return would be 54% less, the best 20 days, 73% less and the best 30 days 83% less.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Seems like if you just do the opposite of whatever the consensus on Reddit is, you’ll make out great.

Also one of the reasons I did not sell lol.
One of the funniest things was everybody on Reddit the trashing/shorting the Reddit IPO. It went up from $40 to $240. Now it's been humbled to $100 a share, but it's still outperforming.

The US stock market has effectively been turned into a meme stock.

Gold is blowing up which is nice since I moved my entire life savings into it.
I've been beating the gold drum for a while now.

We are already cooked, but yes, that's the next step in us being even more cooked. It is going to happen. Have fun!

Palantir getting into the extrajudicial human detention business. Seems to be an untapped market with potential. One to keep an eye on.

Wait til you see what they've got cooked up for corporate fortress cities.
Am slowly working through LotR for the first time and it's striking to me that so far the only palantir written about is the one the evil wizards use to communicate with each other.

So we've essentially just legalized market manipulation, right? Didn't think the Rich could actually rig the game any more than it already was, but here we are. I for one, welcome our new Trillionaire overlords (sorry, not sorry if this got too political).

The Celtics just sold for a bit over $6 billion.
Microsoft is up 9.5% so far this morning. That means Clippers owner Steve Ballmer has made enough today to buy the Celtics twice over.
Bringing this back to the NBA, it shows how onerous the basketball penalties are for being over the second apron. A hundred million is nothing to Ballmer. But even the Clippers ducked under the apron to avoid the other penalties.

Re: OT: Investing/Stocks/Bonds/Mutual Funds/Crypto
I hope everyone stayed the course. Not back to where we were yet though and there will be more bad patches. Nothing is a straight line, up or down, but if you sold off earlier this month you missed a great 2 weeks. S&P up 9 straight days for the first time since 2004. Foreign markets doing better than domestic this year. Most target date funds have foreign exposure.
Bottom line, keep on keeping on, don't try to time the market, don't try to catch a falling knife.
ETA, since I'm no longer contributing to a 401k and I decided not to put any cash to work buying dips I didn't get full advantage other than my accounts heading in the right direction. But the S%P is still down over 3% YTD.
ETA, money markets still over 4% so cash is still pretty good.

S&P down 3.1% for the year. Mrs. & I are up 0.4%. With all the nonsense going on, I'll take it.

Anyone have a non-tech stock they like? I've been searching for something to buy into.

I kinda like the future prospects of Ocean Power Technologies. They keep landing contracts with defense companies, slowly getting larger. I think ocean security is going to be a big deal and also they have some very interesting renewable energy unmanned vessels that drones can land on and charge. Could totally see something like that being a lot more common the more tense countries get with drones and unmanned tech

Good enough for me. I checked through it and looked solid. You're now looking at the majority owner of Ocean Power Technologies.
