Yeah this could easily be 2-3 weeks out.

Silver lining if it is a 2-4 week thing, he can get some good rest in (especially for his knees), while still able to keep decent condition being only a wrist injury.
What stage of coping am I up to already?

I'm wondering about a scapho-lunate ligament sprain, but I'm guessing that based off taping position.

That is the most common wrist sprain/tear. You are correct with the taping technique too. It could be De Quervain tenosynovitis, but the taping usually goes much higher up the thumb for more stability.

I doubt he'd be allowed to engage in any activity with an acute tenosynovitis.

Haha I was literally about to tag you Jez to get the expert physio opinion like I normally do when there is an injury I don't understand. What sort of recovery/timeline would we be looking at with a "scapho-lunate ligament sprain" ?
EDIT* I did not like the answer google gave me

You can engage in activity. It’s more of a lasting pain issue that most people struggle with due to inflammation. It makes more sense to not let him do anything with a scapho-lunate injury. You increase the risk of having surgery involving the carpal bones. Which gives me hope this isn’t a big deal. I find it hard to believe he would have done much of anything this weekend if he had a concerning injury. The whole situation honestly seems a bit odd and doesn’t really add up for me.

Right so doing stuff would aggravate the inflammation, increasing the chance of fibrosis around the synovial sheath. I'd say it's more likely that a mild ligament sprain demonstrating capsular integrity, minimal fluid in the surrounding area and good strength in testing would be allowed to wander around Utah holding clipboards and play with fairly minimal taping.
There isn't clinical justification for allowing to stir the synovitis up.

The results will be biased to North American results which are heavily surgery-biased because how their health system works. If Giannis was bad he'd probably have already had an op. I'd say weeks at most, but I'm doing bulk guesswork here!

I find it hard to believe there isn’t concern with strength and capsular integrity. There’s no reason to bother going to NY in that’s not the case. Which is why there’s no justification to have allowed him to screw around and suit up if those are concerns.

It's actually really interesting discussing how an injury would be managed by practitioners across continents. In Australia we are primary contact practitioners so we are empowered to make management decisions without waiting for permission from someone else. However that is taken away from me in a compensable situation (workers comp or motor vehicle accident) and decision making is driven by others.
I'm not saying this to imply anything, what you've said makes sense, though the mechanism of injury would be more consistent with a ligament sprain than a traumatic tenosynovitis. I guess I'll say the only reason he's seeing a specialist is due diligence. In any case nothing bad has happened to Giannis so far, he certainly seems happy with the course of management.

Wish I wouldn't have googled that. Not a great google search for a timeline.

I’ve had a good conversation. I did agree it was more likely that your initial diagnosis of a ligament sprain was correct. I think a major difference in care here is the pressure to provide quick results. Meaning, if a patient really pushes a cortisone injection for an inflamed tendon sheath…they are gonna likely get one. I’m not saying the Bucks would do that or Giannis would push for that. I’m just speaking in regards to the average person. It also seems that our healthcare system is more fragmented. But that doesn’t really apply in this situation.

Apparently JS has a new story with kohl on bringing Giannis over. Anyone have a summary?

There's some quotes from John Kerry and Herb Kohl directly
First time they ever went on record about it
The topic was covered in Mirin Fader's Giannis book similarly
But, just a lot about how Herb Kohl pulled strings to get a visa for Charles and the rest of the family to come over

B-but I thought Ujiri did that, and that's why he's definitely signing with the Raptors???

Defense for some reason is counted as only 25% as important as offense.

Even looking at it that way should put him ahead, with cumulative o/d numbers.
