People are being nostaglic for Giannis and I get it. He is getting up there in age, personality has changed a bit, injury prone and the team stinks. The time to trade Giannis was probably last year but now is the next best time.

This team is going nowhere even if we keep him.

I think this is where we are both, right. We are going nowhere if we keep and going nowhere if we trade him. We have burned a lot of assets through poor management and extremely bad luck (Dame, Parker). Slightly more short-term upside to keep Giannis and slightly more long-term upside if we trade him now.

I think people forget how hard it is for us to 1. get a really good pick in the lottery with how are picks are structured, 2. select the right player multiple times, 3. get the right coach, 4. time it so we are competitive when the players are reaching their peak. The "we will be just fine" crowd is probably realistically talking about us being semi-competitive as a 6 seed in 4-6 years. Even if we hit on the Giannis package, we don't have limited future picks and Dame is taking a chunk out of our cap space.

If we trade Giannis we should have plenty of picks. We just need a GM that actually knows how to draft

I'd be fine with this. Local player on the come up who the fanbase could get behind and a few draft picks to put alongside him.

This remains the best possible deal for Milwaukee. Would certainly include KPJ to get it done and though my preference would be to keep him, I'd also consider expanding it by turning Rollins into lesser assets as well.

To be honest, I'd probably try to re-route Johnson to get more assets though with that deal he's on you have a great #2/All star level guy locked up. With some luck your core would be completed in a couple months and a pretty clean cap sheet if you move Turner and let Kuzma expire.

Getting our 2027 first is paramount though if an Atlanta deal were to go down. 2 year tank window and a clean cap sheet going into 27-28

If KPJ makes the return stronger, I'm all for adding him. I think it's going to be extra precarious with him on a hopeless team, and he's a FA at the end of the year anyway, when he likely will walk if he's worth keeping.

Also Alex for our favorite Other Team 2 way should be part of the deal.

Yeah, there is some pettiness in this where I want him to have a Dame like experience, but another part of me wants him to win 5 rings with the Spurs or OKC.

I think I'm just hoping for the biggest haul possible and taking my pettiness out by making Doc coach Thanasis for the rest of the year.

If we were Dallas we'd do that J. Johnson and NOP pick trade and we'd get the #1 and #2 picks in the draft. Pick Petersen and Boozer, and then look like we could have a future.

But since we're MKE we'd do it and somehow end up with the #12 and #13 pick and become irrelevant for 50 more years. I'd still strongly consider doing that.

The problem with the Brooklyn picks is they own crappy picks IMO.

I don't think it's the worst idea out there. They can flip Claxton and MPJ, and Brooklyn has the 5th best odds in the lottery right now, and with Giannis out those odds aren't gonna get much worse.

Can they flip Claxton and MPJ? If we're that confident in that, we should just insist that it's folded into the original trade. I don't want to be caught holding the bag on those guys.

Even I would do this trade, and I'm on Team Keep Giannis obviously.

Jalen Johnson + possibly both Peterson/Dybantsa would be enough for me to throw in the towel. Of course, Atlanta wouldn't offer this in a million years...

With hindsight if they knew they were getting a Peterson/Dynabasta with 100% certainty they probably wouldn't. As of now its a mystery box. And keep in mind, a player of Giannis' caliber hasn't been traded since...Kareem. Top 3 player in the world in his prime so no one knows what kind of return it could bring until it happens. PG3 type return is what I'm asking bare minimum. If not, that team can hope Giannis wants to sign with him if he decides to forgo $100 million dollars in 1.5 years for the honor to do it. I know the Bucks current state of affairs shows poverty franchise but they have a ton of leverage here and ultimately getting Giannis to re-sign without a NTC might have saved the future of the franchise.

Get used to plenty more of that garbage. Between GSW, Miami, NYK and BKN, you can barely combine all 4 teams to make a real offer and we’re most likely going to pick between 1 according to these dickheads like espn and sports illustrated.
