Here we are on September 20. Exactly two months after the July 20th Game Six victory/celebration.
Still seems surreal.
Watching the abundant highlight videos that lionize the Bucks triumph and mostly ignore how easily the playoffs could have turned out differently. The Bucks seemed to never miss a video highlight shot.
Remembering the tension of Game Six and the way the Bucks seemed to be in control, but could never truly pull away.
Listening to Ted Davis, "The Suns .... are not gonna foul ! ! ! ! !"
Amazing that one can attend a live event and feel like they missed a huge part that was unfolding outside the arena.
Wondering how many will be in the DD for Ring Night, in just under a month.
Wondering if there will be a new found championship confidence that will help FT Giannis moving forward.
Marveling at whiplash-like momentum reversals. The disaster of Giannis leaving the ECF with a severe injury only for the Bucks to step up and advance without their star. Maybe Giannis can play some in the Finals becomes Giannis will play in Game 1 and then becomes a FMVP trophy. A can't miss wide open Suns alley-oop dunk becomes an iconic block. The Suns down 1 point with the ball in Game 5 only for Holiday to rip the ball from Booker and dribble downcourt for the Valley-Oop to GA34. Lose the first two to BKN, win 4 of the next 5. Lose the first two to PHO, win 4 straight.
Head Shaking over the thoughtfulness of a superstar wearing a "I (heart) Paschke-ball" t-shirt to a post game presser.
Regretting that Thanasis had to watch it all on TV.
Knowing that nothing in the Bucks' future could ever compare. Could it?
Anticipating that the championship aura will soon take a back seat to the drumbeat of the start of a new season.
July 20, 2021. So long ago. So indelible.
