My only solace is if Maker actually hits, he could be a great player whereas I never felt Potsie had a chance of anything.

But yeah, I'm depressed.

You'll get over it when we sign Sabonis for $5 million in 2028.

True

I didn’t get to the later pages in this thread. Is this the one where FreeWhiteMoon starts posting yearbook pages from his friend in Perth. That’s when things really got lit about a day or two later.

I hate to brag, it's just that I've never been right before.

I have a reeeaaallllly hard time seeing it with Thon.

Negatives (from Nike Hoop Summit Game)
- Pushed off the block/out of rebounding position incredibly easily. Denied position over and over by smaller players on O.
- Smaller players can use their strength to score on him fairly easily as he's dislodged by almost any contact.
- More than a couple really bad passes.
- Hands looked awful. Really hard time collecting simple passes and routine rebounds.
- Very poor post "moves". Bad awareness of where he was on the floor. Threw up some terrible terrible shots (a couple he absolutely blasted off the top of the backboard. From layup range.) Seems to be a strength issue as he struggled so hard to get the shot up through contact and when he did break through, he had ZERO touch and slammed the ball off the top of backboard. Awful.
- Not a single smooth (or even effective) offensive move.
- Really slow rotating over to defend rim on several occasions.
- Didn't know where to space himself on offense- poor instincts on offensive spacing and running on the break. Couldn't find the open spots on the floor etc.
- Overall, he looked extremely awkward. Makes Danny G look smooth and under control.

Right now, I'm probably 85% skeptical with about a 15% sliver of hope.

I feel like this kid is going to be more Yi than Giannis. Someone sell me on why he's not. Please.

And the crown jewel:

"Thon" is French for "tuna". That is all.

Some real unfortunate posts in this one. I think AussieBuck was the one with a friend in Australian immigration who told him how low the threshold was to "officially" change an age like 2 weeks after the draft, and he was completely crestfallen.
Please reconsider your animal consumption.

Some really solid posts.

The Thon pick made sense in theory of what we were trying to be and achieve. But he was taken way too high. He should’ve been a late first/early second. Sabonis doesn’t bother me but it would be really nice to have Prince.

I remember the initial "Locked On Bucks" Thon take, offered with the hint of snark & dismissiveness we've come to know and love from those guys, was something very close to-

A lot of people are saying Thon is this boom or bust guy, but we don't understand that take. If anything Thon has a high floor & lower ceiling. His tools basically guarantee he'll be at least a rotation center for a long time."

Or he's the framework of a Dark Age monastery, almost entirely devoid of anything resembling a structure.

Now find the thread where people were jealous that Minnesota's core was better than the Bucks core.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

Didn't Deyonta Davis win the poll that year for who people wanted with the pick?

I'm pretty sure he did.

With hindsight being 20/20, take a second and imagine if we had Taurean Prince (pick #12) on this team instead of Snell. I would be penciling us in for the finals right now

Or Caris Levert at 20 who I really liked but probably didn't post about so there's no way to prove it.

I super into drafting Denzel Valentine that year. Idk how he's looked lately, but we could actually use someone with his skillset now.

Even if you did post it still doesn't prove anything because you can go back and edit any post.

Hope we never draft a big with bad hands again. Should be an immediate red flag. Being able to catch the **** ball is kind of important.

What if the thread is locked? It's probably in a thread with little cleo's tiers and I'm not reading through that.

A lot of people on this board liked LaVert at the time, though I remember medicals are the reason he slid so I can see why the Bucks passed.

I remember I wanted anybody besides Maker and I couldn't believe it when the Bucks picked him, I was shocked and disappointed. He was rumored to be a late 20's pick
