I'm pretty certain I have replayed every single Zelda game at least 4 or 5 times. I love the progression, the atmosphere, everything. But I have not once ever wanted to replay BotW. I enjoyed the experience. It was something cool. But I don't think I finished even a quarter of the game before I said "ok, time to go do some dungeons", finished the beasts, and then defeated Ganon. I do hope for a return to formula, but it seems like they're going to double down on the playstyle and that makes me sad.

I think of BoTW as more of a return to the series roots than any other game that came before it. The reason it's my favorite Zelda game is because of that completely open ended nature of not needing to do the dungeons in any particular order (or at all if you want) but if you want there is always something over the next hill for you to do. In those ways it's the most like the original NES game than any of the others.

I've never been a Zelda fan. I played Link's Awakening and Link to the Past but never finished them. Never played anything after those two. It took me a while for BotW to click for me but when it did I very much enjoyed the game. Didn't come close to finishing it, but for a relaxing pick and play game it's a lot of fun.

Zane got buff'd, other OP stuff got nerf'd.

I'd forgotten how much easier TVHM is than regular mode. Because everything scales with you, if you like an item and want to keep it for your whole play through you totally can with occasional farming. I didn't use the One Pump at all the first time around but I bet it'll come in handy the second time around. I'm also gonna wait to do the Pipe Bomb mission until level 50, because that thing somehow still owns even after getting nerfed huge. Mine is level 26 and it's still out performing Legendaries I've gotten in the 40s.

Can definitely feel the Zane buff with my clone/drone combo.

This Zane build should be insane now.

Anyone run into issues with fast travel stations not registering? On Aethena, the Anchorpoint (?) fast travel activated, but it won't let me travel to it. I restarted, re-ran through the zone, and it still isn't working. Super inconvenient - that zone is sprawling.

Nevermind, got a response on Reddit. Apparently it's a one-way station...which makes no sense, since you can fast travel from literally anywhere.

Just want to say that any mission that requires you to use a specific vehicle can go to **** hell. I was yelling, having to replay the mission with Maya where you have to take a lumbering truck through an avalanche of turrets. I still have one more to go, too. They all are the absolute worst.

Well the apocalypse has happened. Steam has been down for 30 minutes. No one can play any of the games that use the Steam DRM, which is like all of them.

I don't recall who recommended the Trails series to me, but about 6 months ago I bought Trails in the Sky on Steam when it was on sale and it sat in my backlog for me to play one day. I was AFTV (away from TV) today so did not play BL3, and decided to fire it up.

Damnit this is wonderful so far. I'm still in the prologue, but I'm in love. I miss this type of RPG so much. And I'm just so happy that it isn't anything like the Ys series which so overwhelmingly disappointed me after seeing so much hype for it. I was hesitant to try another Falcom RPG...I should not have been.

It was me (doot doot, own horn), and trust me when I say that Trails might be my favorite RPG series of all time. Mastahpiece.

Have you played a bunch of other JRPGs? Been debating picking up Xenoblade Chronicles 2 or Dragon Quest XI and I’m looking for opinions.

I heavily recommend DQ11 over Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Watch some in-depth videos on XB2 combat and try to gauge if it would be for you before you jump in. It isn't that it isn't deep, but it is very different and not for all. It wore on me and I stopped after ~40 hours, which is about 1/5 of the game.

Xenoblade Chronicles is definitely a weird-ass JRPG. If you play JRPGs for the stories, it really gets... out there. DQ11 is definitely more trope-y and sticks more to the traditional formula, which makes it, imo a better game.

I'm finishing up the first trails of cold steel now. It's a lot of fun. Got II ready to go just hoping for a pc release for III.

I've been playing Trails all day instead of BL3...

Playing BL3 tonight with friends, though. But yeah, good game.

Play it so I have someone to talk about it with! :D

What's wild is that the game is old enough that there aren't any big-name guides online. I'm not using one for Trails in-depth anyways, but check-in before I leave areas to make sure I didn't miss any items (which I underatand is a thing). But I've resorted to using the best guide available on GameFAQs, which I forgot existed, which is hilarious.

I'm still into BOTW. Figured it was worth delving into a bit more and messing around. It is a truly remarkable map, even as it is almost too complicated at times to figure out how to navigate to certain areas without dying. There are a couple things that continue to get on my nerves: Weapons breaking exactly when you don't need them to, and lightning storms, which are the worst because not only do I have to shed all of my metal items to avoid being struck, but I also have to watch those valuable items get pulverised by a lightning strike and that is total BS. I was fortunately able enough to flee to a stable before the last lightning storm hit.

One thing I will say, even though I love the game greatly, CSII is probably the weakest entry in the series from a pacing standpoint. That being said, the last part more than makes up for some of the earlier pacing issues (except for the Divertissement, which will hit you out of nowhere - just know that it's about two characters from Trails of Azure/Zero, which are Japan PSP (!) exclusives).
