When I take over for Silver I cut it down to 50 games and playoff teams to 12. Regular season intensity would pick up.

Pipedream of course but it's like watching 6 months of preseason hoops before things get serious. No other sport has such a huge disparity between the regular season and playoffs.

Baseball has the same issue. It’s even worse arguably because the divisional round is only 5 games

Baseball is much worse. Play 160 plus games and get only 1 guaranteed playoff game as a lower seed.

But baseball also has other things to sustain it during regular season like home run chases, perfect games, and other record chasing. It also is more of a lifestyle spectator sport where you totally don’t have to care about the season to enjoy the games during the summer.

Yeah baseball has an insufferably long season too. But at least there isn't much difference in the games themselves between regular season and post season. The first minutes of the NBA playoffs are unlike anything you see in the regular season.

Walton was a treasure. I was hoping we'd see him in Madison more often with the B1G pulling in UCLA. Just terrible news.

Bill Walton was a goofy treasure. An all time great player.

Feels kind of fitting that he passes right after the pac 12 dies. One of a kind character.

One of the greatest of all time on and off the court, totally unique and an incredible ambassador for the game. RIP big man!

That's awful :( I really loved Bill Waltons personality. His sense of whimsy was so special, I really wish more people were like him.

Bill might've been the single best reason to listen to the Dan Patrick show.

I can't wait to see the cool and fun way the Pacers decide to blow this one.

I don't know if it's more impressive that the Pacers have been able to compete so well the past two without Hali, or if it's a blight on the Celts they can't put a play-in level team away.
