Both Jimmy and Pat Riley being true to their nature here. Jimmy being an elite diva who's willing to burn every bridge imaginable to get his way, and Riley trying to big-dick his stars like this is still the 80's/90's where he could get away with it. They really could have just sent him home right from the get-go and avoided all of this.

I will say this, whoever gets Jimmy is going to have a good player for 1.5 seasons at least. Angry Jimmy is usually the best Jimmy but eventually his age will catch up to him or we will see him get angry again with his new situation.

Perfect. The Bucks window is really the next 1.5 seasons before Dame slows down and Giannis loses a bit of his athleticism.

The seasons where Giannis sort of disappeared into relative MVP obscurity were between 2021-2023. After Westbrook's 2017 MVP it opened the door for statistically dominant/historic seasons on middling teams dragging them to the playoffs. Hence Curry's 2021 third place finish over Giannis, Jokic's second MVP in 2022 on a 6(?)seed, etc. The one season where Giannis was considered an afterthought that was idiotic was 2023. Bucks were the #1 seed and Giannis led the league in pick-and-roll defense both guarding the screener and the ball-handler, while putting up 30-12-6 with +63% TS. Embiid's MVP was media driven. 2023 should've been Gianni's trophy. We'd now have a Magic/Bird situation with he and Jokic with them both tied at three a piece.

There's no shame in him finishing third behind SGA and Jokic, who are both having incredible seasons in their own right. Though I still think he has an outside shot if the Bucks can sneak into the #3 seed and start having more signature wins (against CLE, NYK, DEN, OKC, DAL, etc.). Besides, I'd rather he gets FMV2 over MV3.

I 100% think the reason they didn't just tell him to stay home after the 6 game suspension was because they didn't want to pay him. And paying a guy for ~10 games is peanuts in the grand scheme of things and so I don't even think it was about saving money it was about trying to inflict as much pain on him as he's inflicting on us.

Alot depends on what kind of offers Miami has been getting but let's say for sake of argument that its been nothing but bad contracts and expirings.

Well then it might not be the worst idea in the world to suspend him for bad conduct and hope he becomes so disgruntled he just opts out of his deal in the offseason so the books are clean and you aren't saddled with any extra bad deals

All the Jimmy Butler drama reminds me of one of my favorite Game of Zones episodes.

yeah. look, i'm pumping the brakes on the Khris panic bus more than most around here after that last game. but even on Khris's best day, he doesn't sniff the level of athleticism that Jimmy can provide on defense.

so if we can get Jimmy for basically a salary match, with the Heat knowing they can turn Khris and Bobby into some kind of asset(s), then i'm happy and let's do it.

Go big or go home.

I don’t think the Heat even care about turning Midds and Bobby into other assets. They seem to have two big goals: 1) Take back no salary beyond next season because they want to make a run at Luka after next season; 2) Make the playoffs this season so they convey the top 14 protected draft pick this year to OKC because it becomes unprotected next year if not conveyed.

Midds and Bobby both help with the first and at least Bobby helps with the second. (Maybe Midds does if they get him some HGH)

The first reason is why they will not touch Beal or Lavine under any circumstances.

The second is why I think they ultimately move Butler because their nightmare scenario is he is such a distraction they miss the playoffs this year, get the 14th pick, he opts in next year and continues to be a distraction leading to another lottery pick, which they end up top three in the lottery and that pick is conveyed to OKC.

Bulls playing the Nuggets on now. You can fan scout Lavine against a top team.

Rockets/Celtics is good.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Lakers with a pretty impressive meltdown against a completely worthless Charlotte team. Josh Okogie is going crazy, Lamelo exited in the first quarter.

Another loss for boston. Amen thompson and brooks went off.

Boston’s last minute defense somehow worse than ours.

Is boston regressing or just not caring?

I think there’s more to it than that. They’re not as good as last year. It’s just a case of whether they’re still good enough or not.

Horford finally washed, Jrue near washed, Hauser worse, relying heavier on Pritchard, they don't have any rebounders. They are a flawed roster
