Alan Moore agrees, but he ain't doing it. Big part of taking on Watchmen is having the guts to carry the mantle of not only the iconic comic but also now a great season of TV. Lindelof is one of the best TV producers and a lifelong Watchmen fan. He'd been approached to do it multiple times in the past and turned it down.

I guess one question is whether it's easier or harder to do a season 2 now that there's a great season 1--is the "ice broken" or is it a "tough act to follow"? Another is are there any other huge comic fans with sufficient TV pedigree? Brian K. Vaughan is another LOST alum. Joss Whedon would probably be a popular candidate. I'm sure there are people who can put up a passable Watchmen season but I don't think any of them combine the mastery of the medium with the affection for Watchmen like Lindelof does. People have been trying to do more Watchmen for 30 years and this is the first time it's really been done well.

I'm not as big of a fan of Lindelof. I thought LOST was ultimately a failure in storytelling. But he definitely did a good job with Watchmen, and I'd prefer he continued to shape the series moving forward.

But I'd be open to someone else taking a shot and bringing their own spin. I'd love to see what Jordan Peele or Ryan Coogler could do with this series.

I've never seen a single episode of "You" but just going by the trailer, I don't know how anyone can watch it and not think of this:

Two episodes into the New Pope and I'm not sure how to feel about it. I really enjoyed the Young Pope but there's something missing with this season. I can only take so much of the awkward, psychological sexual stuff before I wonder if Sorrentino is basically just trying to pass off soft-core porn as "avant-garde" film-making...

Dennis is so underrated in the pantheon of tv characters. Even on his own show he doesn’t get enough love. Brilliant performance by Glenn Howerton. The “Making a Murderer” spoof they did nearly made me piss myself laughing.

"You" is really just a slightly darker version of The D.E.N.N.I.S. System
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

Agree. The Brian Lafave episode where he takes the identity of the person they found a wallet of was the peak of Dennis to me (although he hasn't even begun to peak). The locker room scene where he thinks some perv stuff is going to happen but instead the kid is just his caddy was so good. Of course the DENNIS System is also top notch.
Resident Lillard truther since 2015.

Peak Dennis imo, especially when taken into context the entire episode.

Dennis is no better than the 4th/5th best character on Its Always Sunny.. Charlie, Mac, Frank, in a landslide. Then maybe Dee, this is probably the area to put him. But even the McPoyles make me laugh more. He is just so vain and predatory that I cringe more than laugh.

Early seasons Dennis is the GOAT.

If you enjoy the McPoyles more than Dennis, we’re just not going to see eye to eye. His vanity and douchey-ness is a schtick, it’s not a documentary bro

Obviously comedy is subjective, its probably ok to have different favorites. Im just saying for me, there is almost no limit to the creative ways that Charlie and Frank are used for laughs. But Dennis, like you said, the punch line is always that he is vain, douchey, and predatory. It just doesn’t make me laugh. When Mac and Charlie create “Fight Milk” or Dee gets caught on the conveyor belt at the neighboring factory.. it is hysterical and I haven’t expected it. With Dennis, he is going to try to seduce, rape, or discard every woman. It just doesn’t make me laugh. No judgement to those who do.

It's tough to imagine Sunny without the whole ensemble. I'm especially partial to Dee because she actually is probably better than the guys, but she gets dragged down with them so frequently (like any sane person would around that cesspool). DeVito's willingness to do anything as Frank is great, and I can probably quote Charlie more than anybody else, but Mac and Dennis are just as important to the show for me, too.

I don't know that whole surrogate baby thing where she tried claiming it as a dependent and then throwing a funeral for it when audited was pretty bad.

I don't think I could pick a favorite Always Sunny character. The main cast is all equally hilarious to me and they tend to do a really good job of writing character specific episodes. The amount of subliminal social commentary they did this last season (global warming, boomer culture, transgender rights) was absolute comedic genius.

Charlie is up there for me on the list of all time great sitcom characters. The dating profile episode, the “home alone” super bowl episode, the one where he was smart, so so funny.

My all time favorite was when they needed to pass the health inspection, and he had the genius multifaceted plan.. I couldn’t stop laughing. I have a few co workers, and when we get some terrible task.. we say “time for some Charlie work.”

Totally fair and I agree with the subjectivity. I think there is a little more nuance to Dennis than you give him credit for. His vanity and womanizing is certainly one angle but his insanity in general is pretty well done. There’s fan theories on whether or not he’s a serial killer, lol. When they move to the suburbs he’s losing it loving with Mac and that has nothing to do with vanity or women. When he’s selling the car and the guy calls it a starter car and he flips out- “this is not a starter car this is a finisher car” lol he’s nuts but again it’s not womanize or vanity related. All the main characters are awesome but I can’t imagine it without Dennis’ insanity and plan making and outside the box absurdity. A lot of times it’s his plan that gets the gang into madness.

I don’t know, I think you’re simplifying him to the Dennis system or “implications” Dennis and I think there’s a wider variety of angles they explore with him. But again, you’re right that it’s ok to disagree on a subjective thing. Cheers mate
