Did get a chance to check out Black Bird on Apple TV+ and let me tell you it's the stuff nightmares are made of. Taron Egerton and Paul Walter Hauser are amazing as the two leads and you skin will crawl before it's all said and done countless times. Two episodes are available now - a new episode for each of the next 4 weeks and moment after moment throughout this (thriller/mystery/suspense) gave me the creepy crawlies.

My wife works for Metallica's management company, and it was tipped off that a song would be featured but I was still blown away by Eddie's upside-down-face-melting solo. I usually hate loving things that are super hyped and popular, but this show deserves every bit of fandom it gets.

Easy way out for Duffer Bros to kill off a newly introduced character, but they built Eddie up beautifully. I was the basketball and football jock in high school that also loved D&D and rock and roll, this all hit super close to home and I ate it the **** up. RIMFP Eddie, you metal deity.

Spoiler:
Eddie was a legend. The actor that played the character was goddamn amazing. And that scene on the trailer *chefs kiss*. The Duffer Brothers are seriously great at introducing beloved characters only to take them out later that same season.

My one gripe is them seemingly retconning the Mind Flayer. In the earlier seasons (and interviews with the creators) they made it clear the MF was this eldritch horror of inexplicable origin hellbent on taking over our dimension. Which is awesome. But now, it's actually Vecna controlling the MF. That reveal was incredibly disappointing on so many levels. I pray they have something more creative up their sleeve regarding the MF.

Spoiler:
I personally think that the MF is still the real big bad and that VH1 is just his puppet, deceiving him into thinking he is in control (some real eldritch sh*t). I think MF eventually turns on him now that it's gotten access to the real world, and Henry gets something of a redemption arc. Fan theory suggests the 11+8+1=20 critical hit is to take down Vecna, as foreshadowed in the Hellfire Club campaign, but what if it's El(011)+Kali(008)+Henry(001)=20 to banish the MF for good?

Spoiler:
I finally watched the last two episodes of ST4 and I loved them. When Brenner said El wasn't ready yet, I knew we were headed for some Empire Strikes Back ****. The way ST is a pastiche of all these 70s-80s adventure and horror stories is something I usually find annoying, but they are exceptional at deploying these tropes and in this case (and some others) the extratextual reference added a delicious layer of dramatic irony.

Also, I don't think we're getting a double-back on the Vecna-Mindflayer thing. The fact that Vecna-slash-One-slash-Henry is the animating force behind all the series' apparent antagonists has unified and made coherent the story of the entire series, and I think you have to also consider the fact that while ST may occasionally bring in some visual/tonal elements from older stuff, any deeper exploration there dies on the vine; ST has no fealty to Lovecraft or anything that came before Stephen King and any influence is through the indirect channel of those more modern stories. Something happening because of some principle in the Cthulu-verse is just as likely as something happening because it happened in Flash Gordon or the Count of Monte Cristo or Greek mythology -- there's no direct line of communication between these texts.

I liked Thor. I think the polarization of opinion is down to how you viewed the tonal shifts. If you didn't like it, you probably hated the movie, but if you didn't mind it, you really enjoyed it. I'm more in the latter half where it didn't bother me too much.

good episode but since we know Gus and Jimmy (and Mike) don't die yet it made it less suspenseful. At this point the only thing I'm interested in is what happens to Kim and ultimately what happens to Jimmy if they choose to finish the Omaha story.

Going to go out on a limb and say this is going to blow all the other SW shows out of the water.

First episode of Severance was sleep inducing. Not sure if I'll continue.

I might be crazy but I thought Severance was awesome. I’d give it another couple of episodes before giving up on it.

Most recent For All Mankind (I think some of you watch it):

Spoiler:
I was shocked when Ed aborted the Mars landing. I was expecting something to go sideways with one of the two landings, but never expected that. It seemed like being so close with the first moon landing haunted him and with his test pilot mentality, I expected him to stick it out, even if they crashed.

That kid is absolutely going to tell Ed he **** his wife now, especially with not letting him try to land it either and with all the other build up there.

Spoiler:
The telegraphed it the whole episode, with Ed reminiscing about Gordo and the weird card game. When Ed looked over at Danny during entry he suddenly knew he couldn't risk Gordo's kid dying too.

But yea, things are definitely gonna come to a head when Ed finds out. As much as I hate Danny, I do like the drama hanging over this season because of it.

I found the first episode or maybe even two or three borderline unbearable, but ended up sticking with it and it really seems to pick up steam the further you get into it.

It took me a handful of episodes to figure out what the hell I was watching but once I got the rhythm of show down I was hooked. Have been binging the hell out of it at night and it's tough to put down. The scraps in the show beat any battle you'll see on GoT. Love the cold opens, especially to open the seasons.

And my god is Michelle Mylett a goddess.
