Even though this is only a u-20 team, Giannas is still among those who have the least seniority, and they seem big on that factor over in Europe. You have to pay your dues. His teammates were probably pulling rank with him.

Also, I think they are still without the defensive 3 second rule in Europe, aren't they? Giannas is a slasher, so that rule would adversely effect him more, where in the NBA the lane is more open.

Don't read much into this game, the real tournament starts now.

But losing this game determined who they'd face next round and dropped them to #2 in their current group.

I'm sure they wanted to win the game. Even with mistakes and bad decision making they were narrowly close to doing it. Even after being down 18-0 to begin the game.

eta: The commentator for the game clearly advertised talk around the media that the Greek players were over confident going into the game. The manner that they lost the game in could be a boon perhaps if they don't come out like they did in anymore of their remaining games.

Coach Drew getting to know Giannis
Nikos Varlas wrote:...Coach Drew was sitting in the stands during the last two games and saw what Antetokounmpo can be: A real point forward who can contribute points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. The upside of the player is huge, however at this point he is still a project. That’s why the number 15 pick of the 2013 draft has a lot of work to do in order to reach his full potential.

The player and the Bucks know that he has to strengthen his body and that’s the main priority, since the basketball talent is already there. Antetokounmpo is expected to travel in the States during early August and he will have individual work outs, hoping to be as ready as possible before the start of the training camp.

Despite earlier speculations, Antetokounmpo will not play in the NBA Development League. He will be part of the Bucks from day one and when he is ready, he will get some minutes. The main goal for his first season is his adaptation in the NBA and the first concern of the team is to prepare him mentally for the league...

What was his +/- today? I only caught the second half but they seemed to play much better with him on the court. In fact it got away from them in the 4th went he went out and the D crumbled.

Edit : Found it, +16. Of the six guys that played at least 10 min, the next highest was +4. It showed.

I don't think it's a coincidence, either. He gets a lot of defensive attention, and if he doesn't, he's making a lot of plays. On the other end, his off ball awareness is not very good, and he's got to get better at negotiating screens, but his physical gifts and desire are enough to make him consistently disruptive.

Also, I agree with whoever said the lack of true zone defenses in the NBA is going to be great for him. I think his game will improve in translation.

Looks like I missed all the fun. At least now we can hear more from our knowledgeable Greek friends without all the disinformation.

I miss Interbasket. Gave us something to take our minds off the Bucks. Better to argue how crappy Greece players are versus arguing how crappy Bucks players are.... ):

What time tomorrow? (If there is a game)

The fact that he was a previous posting nutjob ran him off the board.

Interbasket posted a lot of nonsense. But he did have good knowledge of Euroball, which was valuable in itself.

The guy is one of the biggest **** in the history of basketball forums and was spreading misinformation that good posters were taking seriously. He's even been a total ass on this board about 3 years ago. His original realgm name was KWSN-Men which was the name of a guy he hated on another forum so he took it and used to say **** up stuff and make that guy look stupid on other forums. Did you not notice the Greek posters that have started posting here don't like him? He would've driven them all off the forum. I'd rather lose one psycho than potentially a dozen good new posters.

I was being facetious. :D

I realized he was a super homer nutjob a while ago after reading his posts downplaying the neo-nazi's in Greece and his claims that Batum wasn't good etc... and that fact that he couldn't even get a long with Emunney.

Oh, cool. :D On the plus side the guy did get the better of an argument with a very drunk Ayt. That's something I'm going to tease Ayt about until at least the end of time.   FWIW I sometimes read emmuney's posts in a proper posh British accent, articulate bastard that he is.
