Just for fun I went on a player comparison ap and Bobby Portis and Tim Thomas have eerily comparable stats (Timmy could handle it a little better, but Bobby’s a better shooter). We blew a wad on Timmy, and his ego was problematic.
Bobby is like, what, our 8th highest paid guy? Im just saying, for long time fans, the talent on this roster, and lack of “fools gold” contracts is very unfamiliar territory.

There were entire seasons where a guy like Bobby Portis might have been our best player! Heck, entire era’s where Khris would have been our leading scorer.

Our team is so loaded right now.

Feel like the depth is similar to years past but now we are super loaded at the top so the depth looks better

lol no i dont think that's true at all. there's promise in some of these youngins but we used to go like 11 or 12 deep with proven dudes.

I think our top 8 is better than it has ever been.

So you think the depth is worse this year? I think we have to wait and see, lots of question marks on that bench. Horst will also be up to something as the season goes on. I don't think losing guys like JC and Allen hurts us very much (Payne is more playable in PO's than both), those guys are a dime a dozen in the NBA. Can pick them up for pennies throughout the season, now we have potential on the bench and guys who can improve with PT...better situation imo

But yes Dame and Giannis makes this the most loaded Bucks team ever outside of 71

I like the depth because its young and intriguing. Feel you can pick up a guy like Wes/Dingles/etc during the season. If Marjon flops or AJJ isn't playable then you can explore those vets that are rotting away on bad teams.

depth, to me, means the number of reliable players that you have. in years past, that has been a large number. this year, it's just not true. yes, top 8 has potential to be very very good. and the top 8 or 9 will determine the deep playoffs, but depth wise there are in fact a ton of question marks. we do have more exciting prospects this year than in the entire Bud era combined. and it is possible we can sign guys as the season goes on, although i disagree that a Grayson or Carter is a dime a dozen. i think that about covers it.

The lack of bad contracts is nice. Then again, some guys take discounts to play here (like Bobby) and also look really good because Giannis is here.

Bobby however is nowhere comparable to Tim Thomas on a talent basis. TT could literally guard all five positions on the floor. He was insanely talented, but never put it together except for his run for the big contract.

I think depth can have diminishing returns, nobody is running 11-12 man rotations in the playoffs. Filling the roster up with vets who expect playing time is inevitably going to piss someone off and set the vibe off. Gotta give guys a chance to earn it, I’m happy that Coach Griff has echoed my sentiments at least on the latter.

In the playoffs you need a solid Top 7. Maaaaybe 8 for the occasional change of pace or a dude to give you 10-15 minutes of a few fouls and a breather for the starters. I'm sure Horst will look to add a vet or maybe two for some of the doldrums of the long season.

They need to fire all these uniform people and bring back everyone’s classic uniforms from the 80s.

Either that or the Bucks alternate should be the Mecca uniform.

Losses and Additions

Holiday - Dame
Carter - Payne
Allen - Beasley
Ingles - Jackson Jr
Matthews - Livingston
Leonard - Lopez

Maybe not deeper, however there is a ton more speed and athleticism and some young players to develop. Just a different philosophy when it comes to coaching staffs and using some of the roster spots for player development.
Dealing with people who exhibit the "smartest person in the room" syndrome can be a challenge. One approach is to listen their opinion while also encouraging open-mindedness. It's important to create an environment where all voices are valued.

Didn’t say Bobby was more talented. Said look at how similar their stats are. Stat wise, they are the same guy.

Yeah, talent wise Tim teased enough to get a max contract. That speaks for itself, as far as tools.

You make a great point that Giannis results in others signing here, cheaper.

Eh we got nothing from literally all those guys we had last year in the playoffs. Big improvement imo.

It doesn't help that the league has been forcing teams to come up with like 3 unique jerseys every year cuz $$$.
