I believe the Philly pick they own is protected 1-4 and the Utah pick is protected 1-8

Knicks and Heat are definitely frontrunner but their offers are gonna have some stink on it

Lakers are weasels and want to weasel Giannis to LA but another team in LA is gonna give all of their future assets without any assurance because their stupid to land Giannis.

Also wonder how many of us die-hards stick around. I probably will because I'm addicted, but there's a chance I'm out for a while.

Eh, this is the 3rd largest board here and it didn't get that way because all of the sudden Giannis got here. Most of us got here during a run of extremely mediocre basketball.

Give us some hope for the future and something to look forward to and the excitement will grow.

Emotions always run hot. 99% of those who are "out" or "done" will be back after a break. The post Giannis era was always going to happen eventually and here we (probably) are.

I think the problem there is if there was one team in the entire league that needed lower salaries it's OKC. I think they'd be much, much more likely they deal someone like Chet and reload with the LAC pick.

That's a good point. Just thinking about how they're probably going to be in an arms race with San Antionio for the next few years. Giannis helps give them an edge, but you're probably right. They can stay competitive while keeping salaries lower.

I predicted GSW after the Butler injury and I still believe that’s the most likely outcome

We need to get matching salaries back and it's important we don't get any long term bad contracts. None. JJ obviously is long term but he's a keeper. Whoever is added cannot be.

Giannis is at $54 million. JJ is $30 million. Zingas and CJ are both expiring but are also at $30 million. We would have to add in around $6 million (I believe we can't take back more salary than we sent out?).

Bottom line is deals like this take a lot of time to get the players, draft picks, salaries, everything in order.

What third team is involved who would want Butler/Kuminga and crappy GS picks because we sure don't.

why would we trade Giannis to New York, Miami or GS? None of those teams will have the best offer and if OKC and SA aren't interested that would shock me.

For the same reason we traded Trae. We had no choice. He wanted out, wtf else could we do. The offers aren't going to get better either because your back is against the wall and now he wants to win and continue. The problem is, this is a weak asset window. The peak is anytime 3 years out. Two years max. Within a year in and a half is when you screwed.

Hawks needed someone who didn't care if they were any good in 2027. They needed to just blow the money.

For ya'll, Giannis wants to win a title, THIS YEAR. You gonna need a desperate contender or wannabe.

Literally every source is saying the same, obvious thing, i.e. that we want "a blue-chip young player and ample draft capital". Not a whisper about Giannis "preferring" a single individual team. It's basically spelling out to the entire league that we're not gonna accept whatever garbage the Knicks, Warriors, or Miami is already using their media mouthpieces to gas up. But of course, I expect the delusion to continue for a lot of these people until he's finally dealt. It doesn't matter what our new resident homer Hawks fan thinks. It doesn't matter what all the Knicks, Warriors, Miami fans that will inevitably invade this board think.

Bucks will do Giannis a favor and send him to GSW since the Knicks don’t have the package

GSW picks will be good post-Steph and mid 30s Giannis. His next supermax is going to be an albatross in the back half as his play really declines.

You also traded Trae because he sucked hog **** and your team was better without him and his massive salary.

Any/every team kicking the tires on Giannis is going to want his full medicals and any team that gets to the serious stage of a trade will have their medical team checking him out themselves.

no one is a "keeper" at this point. any players coming back need to be flipped when their value ripens. i dont think it's really registered for many people that we have absolutely no shot at anything, at a bare minimum, for the next 7 seasons. And that's if we tank in 2030-31, hit on a great young player, and are then able to surround him with talent with the assets that we keep rolling over from now until 2033.

Wow! Peace

Stop even remotely comparing Trae's situation to Giannis. Laughable.

I think people are overating all of the fans losing interest post Giannis. I would consider myself mostly a diehard and I have had the least amount of interest in this team in years. Bad basketball is bad basketball.

Even my girlfriend has been asking me why I don't watch every game anymore. Thanks Giannis for the memories and good luck on your next team.

lol...

first, Trae with his contract is not a positive asset anymore. he doesn't play defense and can't because he's tiny and can't reliably hit threes. that's the primary reason he was traded for salary. you do know that, right? you're comparing a guy who is now completely irrelevant to winning in the nba to at worst the 3rd best player in the league. this has nothing to do with Trae Young.

the next thing you need to understand is that there are not set values for players. the market will dictate. Bridges went for 5 firsts because a bid war broke out. there will be a bid war for Giannis. the return is going to be big. there's really no point in arguing about it because the results will speak for themselves. if i'm wrong you can come back and quote me but i'm not going to be wrong.

So you think we’re going to tank for 4 years with no pick control? You’re delusional.
Owners want win now players.
