Lindsey Vonn didn't compete.

Exactly

Wut? She was injured & stayed in the U.S. Because of that she "didn't come through"?? Crazy.

Arguably the biggest US name in the Winter Olympics and she can't even go. Of course you can put her in the mix of the overall failure that was Team USA in Sochi.

I'm not blaming Vonn for getting injured, and you'd be extremely foolish to believe that's the case. But she is one of the biggest names in US winter sport. And her not being a part of the Games at all is a HUGE disappointment for the US.

As it turned out, she was the first domino to fall in the failures that occurred by the biggest American names of these Games. If you can't understand that, I can't help ya.

I'm pretty sure there was last time and we still had a thread. It's nice to have a thread for just us, no Canadians or any of those people.

So is Bonnie Blair so I guess her lack of participation was also a HUGE disappointment. At least by your convoluted logic.

Carry on.

I watched 2 periods of the USA-Canada men's and women's matchups. I didn't watch anything else.

I didn't even realize it ended until I saw something referencing it this morning. This might've been the least interesting Olympics of my lifetime.

Your point appears to be that someone who was injured & didn't travel to Sochi to compete in the Games somehow contributed to a poor showing by the U.S. Do I have that right? If not, please clarify.

Having an Olympics on the other side of the globe really hurts interest here. Watching on a delay saps a lot of the drama out of it, and then you're at the mercy of NBC when they decide what to air in prime time. I expect ratings and interest to be better for Rio. It will be interesting to see if they air it live or do a 2 hour tape delay.

2018 and 2020 is going to suck even more with the time difference between here and South Korea and Japan.

The best athlete in her sport not being able to attend the biggest competition in her sport certainly contributes to a lesser showing by the team itself.

I simply used the DVR to record whatever i wanted to watch without knowing ahead of time what the results were, especially the hockey games. Then i avoided things which would spoil knowing what happened.

I often do the same with other sporting events. Just record them and watch whenever i want, while also being able to zip right past all of the commercials.

forgive me if this has already been posted, but I haven't followed this thread at all and it keeps getting bumped. My thoughts on the Olympics....

You wrote "she didn't come through". You make it sound as though she wiped out in every event when she didn't have the opportunity to compete due to injury. I just think it's really an asinine comment.
