Maybe it's not Chris Paul, but this team/Giannis needs a Chris Paul-type player. It needs a point guard who can take the ball out of Giannis' hands in situations (read: the Heat series) and create plays for Giannis and Middleton.

Tired of watching Giannis try to go 1-on-5 and not make the right play half the time or Midds ISOing only to take a Kobe-esque fadeaway. Some of that is probably obviously on the coaching staff, but you need the proper personnel too.

Of course the media is gonna latch onto "the meeting" and run with all sorts of outlandish narratives, and of course it's probably 100% a non-story because literally every franchise does this with their superstars. I'm just gonna tune out social media and every article/story revolving around Giannis until the date where he can sign on the dotted line.

In what has become a superstar-controlled league I think one of the most difficult and delicate things management has to do is listen to its superstar(s) when it comes to personnel decisions but not cede authority for those decisions to players who probably aren't qualified to make them.

Junior GM LeBron made a hash out of things in Cleveland and then got the hell out. Richard Jefferson, J.R. Smith, and Me Williams (as we used to call Mo when he was with the Bucks) were reportedly added to the Cavs roster after consultation with LBJ.

It isn't that a LeBron or an MJ is stupid or can't recognize talent. It's that they may not have the perspective to make a full assessment of the implications of roster changes.

Do I think a 25-year-old Giannis is capable of determining the kind of player who can best complement his game and his skills? No, not really. So this puts Lasry et al. in a tough spot. "Thanks for your input" is kind of a slap in the face if you don't follow his suggestions, and following his suggestions may be detrimental to team success.

Handling this will take finesse.

I'm sure Saratsis is very much involved in this.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Your comment above makes sense. The problem for us is that if we were Miami or Boston, you would have substituted Pat Riley or Danny Ainge for "Lasry".

ESPN Sources: MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo's 3-hour lunch with Bucks co-owner/governor Marc Lasry on Friday covered the season, how Bucks can improve roster, Lasry confirming willingness to spend into luxury tax and agreement they’ll talk again after Giannis returns from a vacation.

Team needs a Dame, Kemba, Booker, not bat **** crazy version of Kyrie type guy. Someone who has serious 3PT gravity both off the catch & off the dribble and is lethal enough in the PnR that Bud is forced to use Giannis as a roll man.

On the LeBron-Davis scale of playmaker vs play finisher, his role needs to be tilted closer to Davis. At the end of the day he’s a 7’ 240 lb power forward/center.

Just gotta pray in the next couple years someone like that becomes available at a lower than expected price.

Gulp... what about Middleton, Bledsoe, Hill, and Indy’s first for Wall and Beal?

Pressuring ownership to spend the luxury tax should be the only input that superstars have over roster construction. If that's the only impression or quasi-demand that Lasry and Co. got from Giannis and his camp then that's about as good as one can hope for. "Don't be cheap", i.e. "don't let the contract of a certain guy who would perfectly address this team's main weaknesses and who also wants to win a ring" deter you from making the obvious move....

"Lasry confirming willingness to spend into luxury tax"

Yeah, we heard that one before...

Can't see them spending big $ with the big drop in revenue this and especially next season, plus the future cap ramifications if they decide to spread that revenue loss over multiple seasons' caps. You're going to have contract costs going up significantly each year with no cap increases making it tough to fill out the rest of the roster.

Yeah, the owners want to win but they also want to make as much (or lose as little) $ as possible.

They also know if Giannis leaves because of this they're going to be burnt at the stake. This was clearly a leak by Giannis' camp now.

You only press accept if Giannis is there with a pen and supermax contract with wet ink on it.

In a second.

Dame
Beal
Kemba
Booker

Will give up literally anything besides Giannis to get any of these guys. No price is too high. Don't think we have the assets to pull it off though.

Curious if Giannis knows there is someone he can convince to demand a trade...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they were always going to end up in the luxury tax if Giannis signed the supermax, no?

Yes. If Giannis stays we will pretty much certainly be a tax team moving forwards.

There was an article in a greek sports site a few days ago about how Giannis is about to take a more active role in the team's management. The author isn't some unknown hack but he didn't name his source(i was told...).

At the time i didnt put too much stock into it but now it doesn't seem impossible. And obviously the only source a greek journalist would have is Saratsis.
