Honestly what's even the point of not letting teams talk to FAs once there season is over? In season I get it and punishment for that should be severe but once the season is done who the hell cares.

Yeah these artificial dates and deadlines are ridiculous. As is selective enforcement.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Woah. That's huge. Even post surgery he will be limited. Looks like PJs career stats year continues.

This has Nets 2020 vibes to me from here, as in I could see their old and injured players being old and getting injured.

The league has a fiscal year end. Meaning they need the information for the prior year's financials to calculate the salary cap for the next season. They routinely move it 1-2m. Teams are agreeing to terms without knowing what the cap, apron, tax, all start at.

This feels like a "we know this is BS and that teams have operated like this but stop telling Shams about the 100m contract and S&T that was completed 60 seconds into FA".

Now that a HoFer was signed brazenly illegally and the penalty was ~1% of his contract this is only going to get much much worse.

I get why contracts can't be signed until the new league year and that wouldn't change but all this **** is basically about teams and agents talking before that official window before the year starts. And everyone knows it happens and league basically has a don't ask don't tell policy on it. Hell the only reason the bucks got popped was someone was dumb enough to give Woj actual details on the S&T at which time the league couldn't ignore it.

It's fair to question if Woj was out of line for tweeting what he did. From the looks of it both Woj and KOC got that info and KOCs tweet right before Wojs tweet was far more vague and wouldn't have resulted in any trouble.

The league can't credibly justify the same punishment for the Bucks as the Heat and Bulls who each got their targets.

Even if Bogdan's agent used the league-wide furor as an excuse to have his client take more money from the Hawks, it's obvious that selective enforcement was applied by those who wanted to see Giannis leave for a bigger market.

NBA waiting 3 months to try and bury the news is pretty rich too.

That and the Bucks suffering tangibly worse consequences giving up a 2nd round pick in the not-too-distant future while both the Heat and Bulls only give up 2nd's much later in the decade is icing on the cake.

I don't think much, if anything, has really changed in the League from last year.

The East is still between the Bucks and the Nets. All those Bulls, Knicks, Hornets etc, I don't buy any of them. Atlanta is still the 3rd best team in the East but a clear notch below the top two, Miami is still the same team with only a super-flukey finals to show for themselves, and Sixers are still the same guys who couldn't do it with Butler so no reason to believe they can do it without.

The West is still for the Suns to lose, the rest is an inconsistent/injured/old mess. We're still waiting to see if Lebron has another on in him and if Klay can still play, without those two at their peak I don't think their teams have a chance against the Suns. Nuggets/Mavs/Clips/Jazz will do about the same they did last year.

Absolutely sucks for Bam who is awesome. But for the Heat this is a bigger penalty than the second round pick.

I guess the karma police weighed in on the tampering “penalty” and added their own.

I hope the Bucks are smarter with their tampering next time and just follow through with signing the player they want. What a pathetic league Adam Silver is running.

I know Mike Gorman has been doing Celtics games for 40 years but maybe it's time to retire.

Shooting is so valuable, man. Miami has turned so many random dudes into serviceable NBA players and they still gave the dude who does very little else $90+ million.

"What if we gave a worse version of Tony Snell 90-million dollars?"

- Pat Riley, probably

There's a Chandler Parsons in every era.
