But it isn't good when your lead assistant who is charged with running your offense leaves a week before the season starts, regardless of why that is.

Oh, I don't disagree with that at all.

I wanted to give Griff the benefit of the doubt. But he hasn't done anything yet to show me he knows what he's doing. 13 other teams passed on hiring him and he was reportedly not the top choice of our front office or ownership so why exactly should I trust he knows what he's doing other than blind optimism?

Adrian Griffith's lifetime record as head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks is <fires up diesel-powered modem, inserts AOL cd-rom> 0-0.

Which doesn't answer the question I asked at all. He's 0-0 so other than blind optimism why should I trust him when so many other teams(not to mention our front office) passed on him

Now change "blind optimism" to "blind pessimism" and see how it reads.

Do we have confirmation from reasonable sources that he was indeed not the #1 choice of our front office?

Is it weird if I'd actually feel better about this if it turns out it was a Giannis power-move to elevate Prunty?

I hope this is the case but it seems unlikely to me that a guy who has coached in the NBA for 26 years forgot about how much of a grind it is and changed his mind like a month in.

I’m pretty concerned about the offense with this move and the very minimal we saw of the halfcourt offense in preseason. It seems like GA was ball dominant and Lillard was playing a lot off ball. This is just speculation obviously, but not getting good vibes about how our talent is going to be utilized. Hopefully that concern is unfounded.

I've stated reasons I was pessimistic.

-13 other teams passed on him when he interviewed for the job(and it's rumored our FO & ownership wanted someone else)
-He's planning on starting a guy who was benched in the playoffs
-He's changing the role of the reigning DPOY runner up
-He just lost his top assistant and offensive coordinator right before the season starts

Those are all negative things imo, and maybe each one can be written off individually, but on the whole there's been quite a few things that can be perceived negatively.

Wish I could help, but I am as surprised as anyone. Hell, I was surprised that TS took the position in the 1st place, as last year we talked about his future and the mention of being an assistant again was quickly rejected. If TS coaches again, selfishly I wish it to be in Italy or Spain.

I agree that there are some things he's hinted at that left me scratching my head but we can't really take preseason into account and I assume most coaches have plenty of interviews before they finally get a chance.

really good chance this is it

that okc game it looked to me like giannis and dame were playing pickup ball and alot of the time dame and giannis were on the court it wasnt together. now that feels intentional. they both want the ball. stotts realized he was going to destroy his reputation if he couldnt win with those two and stepped down. thats my theory

Interesting. Maybe it did have something to do with Lillard one way or another.

Never a great sign when these things happen so close to the season. Dame has looked somewhat passive thus far, hopefully, he and Giannis can figure out how to work together. Giannis seems fairly hard-headed at times & I share the concerns about him having challenges changing his game to accommodate Dame. Wonder if GA's role had anything to do with this.

Always have hoped Giannis would develop a few post moves and incorporate a little Olajuwon into his game. Would definitely increase his longevity, but maybe it's hard for him to shake the "I'm a big guard mentality".

Why Terry? :nonono:

Why would you forsake your hometown fanbase? Just work it out. Why even take the damn job?:

How many have been passed on by that many teams though? It's normal for a coach to not get it on the 1st try but 14 tries is alot
