Yup, which is why the Doc news is.....depressing. Sounds like they already reached out and identified him as the contingency guy.

Whoever the new coach is better win his first game or the board will melt down.

The hard part is already done, now the key thing is not screwing up the next one. Horst botches the next hire then its his ass on the line, Prunty probably will flame out and we'll be able to take our pick in the offseason but if he hires Doc and it doesn't work out then what?

Like, yea. Lotta people were aware of how bad it was when Stotts quit.

I think I'd go

1. Atkinson
2. Stotts
3. Ride it out with Prunty and find a legit long term replacement in the off-season
4. Doc

Not sure if current assistants can interview for this job, but it should have been Atkinson from the start.

His Nets teams were awesome, overachieved, and would have been something if he wasn't forced out when they sold out for KD and Kyrie.

Atkinson should have been the guy (besides Nurse) Throw a bag and a pick at the warriors and get him here

Edens and Haslam won't be afraid to cut bait again. They are ALL IN with our current window. They are spending everything they can. Lasry wanted to cut payroll/expenses because the fans would be happy with the title we got. Fortunately he cashed out.

If the NBA is anything like other sports, the Warriors don't need to give permission and the Bucks wouldn't have to send compensation to the Dubs if Atkinson is the guy. Teams don't stand in the way of a guy getting a promotion.

This is very exciting tbh lol. No one knows if it will be better or worse, but the bar is lowww. Now if we go on a DET losing streak....all hell will break loose. How funny if we fire 2 coaches in a season lol.

Finch was hired in February 2021 off the Raps bench to take over in Minny.

I just don't think its logical to think Doc will improve this team, we go from the worst coached team in the eastern conference playoffs to... the worst coached team in the eastern conference playoffs... ooof! Philly **** canned him and looks SO much better with Nurse.

Pool of experienced head coaches that are available?

Finally. What a waste of time but glad we cut and ran.

I would rather have Bud back. But at least Doc Rivers commands respect and has coached championship caliber teams with hall of famers. Maybe he breaks the curse of losing 3-2 series leads with us.

Stotts is a good coach and offensive mind but he is best as a lead assistant.

I think you either ride it out with Prunty or see if Doc will agree to coach out the season on a short deal.

They’re going to be hard pressed to find the next future coach in the middle of the season and I don’t want another Grief.

Nah, this ownership has proven they will can a coach when it's needed. Add in Haslam's money and it's even easier.

Hire Doc, if they don't win THIS YEAR, fire Doc and start over.

Pistons are so terrible even looking like you might lose to them for a little while is enough of a last straw to get a coach fired.

Again, we already interviewed Atkinson and he was one of 3 finalists. He's from the Pop/Bud coaching tree, has plenty of previous HC experience, and was even the first guy to help transform Brook's game into more of a modern floor-spacer. He's just such an obvious fit here and 100% should be the guy. Not holding my breath though. This seems like a telegraphed Rivers to Milwaukee homecoming. Sadly, it's happening...
