The board has fallen really well for us. Fleming, Raynaud, & Kockbrenner still on the board. Stretch bigs. Got to move up & take 1.

Definitely some interesting names on the board still - looking at you Fleming and Thiero.

Hopefully we trade up tomorrow.

Damn maybe we buy an early 2nd tomorrow. I know our cupboard is dry but man I was hoping the Bucks would do something.

We’ve already lost the safety net, in the case of a Giannis injury, with the initial swap.

The idea would be to get a late first if someone is there that you love, or, probably a smarter route, adding that pick to the ‘31 1st to make a better package.

Moot point now, though.

1. I don't think a team was willing to give up a late first to swap with a team that is looking to win.
2. The safety net wasnt lost because the Pelicans are going to be bad. No way they are better than 11th in the west. Even if we swap with them, it is still probably the 10th pick versus 25+ if we swapped again.

I think Horst gets too much crap for being a "bad drafter" and not enough crap for trading away all firsts in mediocre deals.

The draft hats this year are pretty weak.

Hopefully we can find someone who will part with one of their picks early. Get a big and a wing in round 2

The nets have to trade a pick at some point. Maybe 36 is available.

If he sucks so bad at drafting, It is good that he trades the picks.

if you think the Pelicans will be really bad next year then you dont swap out again. Not unless someone is offering really good value to the point where it's disrespectful to our playoff chances this year.

Your first point is probably correct, but I don’t think the rationale is all that bad. OKC traded 24 for a protected pick that most likely won’t convey next year. I’m curious what the additional protections are. If it’s 2nds, I think the swap would have been more valuable. If it’s a lesser protected pick in the next draft, then nevermind.

For your second point, yes, it would be very risky for us, and we damn well better feel great about what we are getting, or the remaining plan for the offseason.

I agree with others that the move is to trade up for Fleming.

You are correct that it won't convey next year....because it is a 2027 pick. Spurs are most likely going to be a playoff team and will be conveyed as a 2027 late first. So basically they swap about the same pick for one 2 years down the line that fit their timeline better.
The Kings are sending the top-16 protected 2027 first-round pick....

Good catch. I figured it was a Sac pick. Yeah, that seems like good value. The spurs should certainly be a playoff team by then.

They are hoping to hit on one of them and that Giannis wants out. Use the one that hits in the trade. It will be hilarious how the Nets make no positive moves towards winning over the next half decade hoping to land Giannis then he retires a Buck and the closest they ever got to a title was losing to him. (They were closer in 21 than the Kidd finals years because they had no shot against the Lakers but they win the title if they get by the Bucks).

Not sure if I want Bailey to be a bust or the jazz to be rewarded for not letting him dick the league around.
