I really hope we utilize Turner well, and don’t just force him to be a pop only guy.
One thing I’m excited about is his straight line mobility. It’s much better than Brook’s(lateral mobility is also better, but I don’t think to the same degree).
Brook was mostly a predictable cover - get to the three point line. I’m hoping with Turner he’ll be able to keep the defense off balance a little more because of his increased ability to be a popper or roller in any possession. Read and react should be key, and I hope we maximize it.

I think they will. The main issue using Brook as a roller consistently is his glacial straight line speed (as you point out) limiting his ability back to that deep drop position that we kind of based our whole defense around.
Please reconsider your animal consumption.

The main upgrade Turner will provide is the ability to patrol more of the paint than Brook did. Brook was still a damn good rim protector, but he had to be camped at the rim because he would get massively exposed any time he tried to cover outside the lane with his lack of lateral speed. Which led to tons of uncontested floaters from 8ish feet. Turner can just move his feet way better.
Between that and either KPJ or Rollins as the PoA defender verses Lillard, I am going to be pretty upset if this isn't a top 5 defense.

Also, when Brook rolled, it was super easy for the corner defender to tag Brook and recover to the shooter.
I can't wait to see Turner/Giannis pick and rolls. Not huge in to Turner, but he's simply better than Brook in so many ways that we needed.

Why was there a desire to dismiss the setoff the Bucks got from the Dame signing as just saving our owners $? Being a couple million lower for apron & tax thresholds, does improve your roster build. Could make MLEs, BAE's, trade exceptions, etc.; accessible. You're not prompted to take a big haircut like we did in the Kuz move. You can maybe take back 25% more salary. Aggregate. Potentially not lose more future picks. Sign/re-sign guys.
That couple million per, for 5 yrs, in this new climate, could prove significant in maintaining our own players & acquiring new ones.

Because Bucks cutting Dame somehow equals dumb while Suns cutting Beal equals smart.

I mean why did our own fans underplay it. Old Skool here adamantly wanted to frame it that way. Frank Madden (fam) did this as well. It's like he needs to fulfill the role of team cynic at this point.

I'd argue that stats are there to help us cut through bias, like being inclined to dislike a guy because he's kind of a dork and played for a loser.
So I assume you and the "and 1s" were really upset when Kuzma was benched the last 2 playoff games.

I was listening to Garcia on the podcast today and he had an interesting comment on the stretch and waive of Dame. He thinks a lot more teams are going to be doing that with these apron roles and an aging injured bad contract. Paul George looks like the next one.

It's not going to make the exceptions more available because it doesn't take effect until the end of the season. But it could make them more likely to exceed aprons/threshholds before/during the season knowing that they'll likely get that reduction before the penalties kick in.

It's kind of funny how much ink was spilled over how crazy and unprecedented it was only for it to happen to a totally healthy player with the same dollars and years remaining a couple weeks later.

Well they applauded Phoenix for doing it for some reason

I'd offer a 2 way deal to new FA Blake Wesley. Long PG who's progressing as a shooter and younger than Mark Sears.

Can anyone tell me the timeline to resign Khris if he happened to get bought out? Some people are saying February but I thought someone here had said it didn’t mean calendar year but seasonal

Wish we could have gotten Smart. 5.5M is a steal for a bet on him returning to even 80/90% of his peak. Article says we had "serious conversations" with him so at least we tried.

Yeah like emunney said the key piece is that having it applied at the end of the year means it doesn’t increase access to your exceptions/cap space when you can actually use it. It’s not nothing but from everything I’ve seen it doesn’t just wipe out dead money immediately, which most people were assuming (it’s a weird rule, I had to re-read the CBA language twice). Not cynicism just being realistic.

Offensively, he also has much more mobility and intelligence which allows him to actually rotate on the perimeter for open shots based on the defense or dive into the paint for layups and dunks. He's also willing to catch and drill an open 12 footer which Brook was very reluctant to do.
As much as I love Brook, he didn't have the ability to move like Turner on both ends of the court.

The biggest thing with Turner for me is I expect him not to start every offensive possession 35 feet out because he can't get up the court.
