One thing I’m excited about is his straight line mobility. It’s much better than Brook’s(lateral mobility is also better, but I don’t think to the same degree).
Brook was mostly a predictable cover - get to the three point line. I’m hoping with Turner he’ll be able to keep the defense off balance a little more because of his increased ability to be a popper or roller in any possession. Read and react should be key, and I hope we maximize it.

I think they will. The main issue using Brook as a roller consistently is his glacial straight line speed (as you point out) limiting his ability back to that deep drop position that we kind of based our whole defense around.

I’m going to need stats AND a highlight video to back that up.
Hence why some of these new age stats are meaningless
I'd argue that stats are there to help us cut through bias, like being inclined to dislike a guy because he's kind of a dork and played for a loser.

Being a couple million lower for apron & tax thresholds, does improve your roster build. Could make MLEs, BAE's, trade exceptions, etc.; accessible. You're not prompted to take a big haircut like we did in the Kuz move. You can maybe take back 25% more salary. Aggregate. Potentially not lose more future picks. Sign/re-sign guys.
That couple million per, for 5 yrs, in this new climate, could prove significant in maintaining our own players & acquiring new ones.

It's kind of funny how much ink was spilled over how crazy and unprecedented it was only for it to happen to a totally healthy player with the same dollars and years remaining a couple weeks later.

I mean why did our own fans underplay it. Old Skool here adamantly wanted to frame it that way. Frank Madden (fam) did this as well. It's like he needs to fulfill the role of team cynic at this point.
LUKE23 wrote:The main upgrade Turner will provide is the ability to patrol more of the paint than Brook did. Brook was still a damn good rim protector, but he had to be camped at the rim because he would get massively exposed any time he tried to cover outside the lane with his lack of lateral speed. Which led to tons of uncontested floaters from 8ish feet. Turner can just move his feet way better.
Between that and either KPJ or Rollins as the PoA defender verses Lillard, I am going to be pretty upset if this isn't a top 5 defense.
