Long story short, if you can replace Kuz's minutes with a combo of Prince/Middleton for the stretch run its a huge win. I would be worried about him playing too many minutes in the interim for Washington. That body only has so many more miles on it.

Also, not sure if its been covered but if there was a scenario where Khris is bought out are we even legally able to do so? I don't recall the rules with apron teams and what the limits are.
KM hustling his hardest in like 12 min/game.. and it keeps GA happy... I'd be a yes on that but KM would never go for it, nor would GA let it happen --- hey Doc, get my guy Kris in the game.

How do people quickly forget that Middleton was stuck in the mud half the time on defense

If Khris got bought out and wanted to come back then it’s a no brainer, like we have Alex Antetokounmpo on the roster to keep Giannis happy come on

If this was true, we'd remember it. He wasn't right physically last year, but prior to that, he graded very well defensively, and held up well in isolation. Hes terrific at using his length plus anticipation to make up for his lack of footspeed.

i'm so conflicted over the Khris thing.. there's all sorts of benefits to having him back but then does that ruin the identity that we are building? we have created a team based on improved speed, athleticism and defense that moves the ball quickly. i'm just not smart enough at basketball to know how Khris would impact that but i do know he's not running the court like most of the guys on our team.

still, the biggest reason to go get him is that he fixes our number one problem: clutch shot making. currently, it's gonna be KPJ, Giannis, or some kind of drive and kick, and as much as I love KPJ i do not yet trust him in those moments. I dont think anyone does.

but i also think it's important to keep in mind that Khris definitely wants another contract. I'm not sure what we could give him in the offseason but even if we do get him it could be a short rental.

Midds hasn't played 27+ min in 3 full season and doubt he will this year. He's a <20mpg game player on a decent team. Prince played 27mpg last year and played 22 Wednesday. I have zero doubts that Midds would help us more than TP in those minutes. Just have to have a man-to-man with him BEFORE we sign him that he will situational in the playoffs. We could just a mid-range bucket getter when we are cold from 3.\\
Note - He isnt getting bought out until the deadline so by that point we will have built our "identity". We will know if that new identity is working by then and Midds will know what he is getting into.

I agree. Gary Harris vs Khris or even Coffey vs Khris. I'm taking Khris.
We've been needing KM to play spot up 3 shooter and D up for a few years now and he didn't. Those 2 guys will; I'll take Coffey and Harris.

Coffey doesn't really play D and Harris doesn't really shoot anymore. Harris really is Pat's replacement. Khris is better than both.

I'd be stunned if Khris came here on a buyout. I think he'll go wherever he's best positioned to get a ring, even as a microwave off the bench.

Khris already has a ring. I don't really think that's gonna be any sort of primary motivator for him. His body is cooked and he'll be 35. Could easily see him just wanting to come back here for another season and hang em' up as a Buck.

I ran through prime contenders really quickly and didn't really a see clear fit/need for him. I suppose that's kind of what makes them contenders to begin with, but of course anyone can use a shooter like him off the bench as a role player. But I kinda lean towards the same view as Ron, if healthy he probably prefers to come back to MKE. Especially since we do have a clear need for a bigger wing (assuming Kuzma continues to flounder). It would also really clear up using Kuzma in a trade if you had KM to take that backup larger wing spot.

Variable to contenders would be if an injury hits someone. A team like Den addressed their holes this offseason which were kinda in Mids skillspace, but if one tears his ACL well then.

We have a glaring hole in the SF position Kuzma is a PF and not very good
Prince is not starter material. We saw yesterday that Green will get hunted when defending forwards

We have to trade Portis or Kuzma for a productive SF

Sure, but not every team starts a center with 3 forwards.

Yeah, Green wasn’t playable because they needed someone to guard Ingram. Prince actually did an okay job on him.

I do agree Kuz isn’t a SF but if they move Bobby, Kuz is perfectly fine as the backup four playing only when GA is off the floor. Allows him to go full tilt as an energy guy which plays to his strengths and hides his weaknesses. Kuz is much more switchable than Bobby and better at bothering shots at the rim.
