And today I realized I have no idea where my 3DS is, since I haven't needed it since I moved a few years ago. Looked everywhere, but nope. This sucks!

Found it this week! Somehow had enough juice to start a new play through of Fire Emblem Awakening and a charger is arriving today. I read an old review of the game from 2013 on Kotaku just now and I'm giddy about it all over again. I can't wait to get the old gang with Chrom, Sumia, Donnell, and my two little nutcases Tharja and Henry.

Anybody have Nanoleaf lights, or an opinion about them? I have a bunch of Amazon gift cards saved up and have always been intrigued by them, but I can't decide if they'd end up looking cool or being a giant waste of money.

Bought a pair of S2000MKIII Edifier powered blue tooth speakers to just put up in my kitchen, pair to my phone or to our tv when we were playing music. Absolutely love the sound and functionality of them.

Going to get a smaller pair for my office to pair with my laptop and to stream music/audio.

I've been playing FE: Awakening on the hardest difficulty for the first time and I have my regrets about that. There's an early mission where in order to get a weak ass character to join your party he has to level up once, and my dude Donnell is a one hit death sponge. I've been playing the mission for hours in between watching FCS football. But I love this game so much and will persevere.

I also love Donnell, but he's so terrible for like half the game. I can't even imagine trying to level him up on the hardest difficulty.

That was my first FE experience. And I miss it, especially compared to Three Houses. I know we've talked about it on here, but the monestary bull was just too much. The characters, story, and battles were all fine. I just couldn't stick with it to get there through the slog.

For my weekend, I've put a pause on CS and Last Epoch and am sticking with Grim Dawn. Playing on veteran, which is definitely slow to start, but feels much more rewarding to me than normal which is completely mindless. Just got done with A1, jumped over to the Forgotten Gods content (A...8?) right away for a quick detour and to get my move skill, but will head back to A2 soon. Loving the Oathkeeper. Undecided on my second class, but probably Inquisitor.

I bought the DLC way back in the day that had the XP map and the Gold map. I hope they still show up when I'm eventually able to access them, because that was the only way I could get Donny leveled up. But once he's there he's an absolute angel of death who wipes out anything and everything.

Is Grim Dawn worth the $55 price tag? It looks like Diablo 3 and I loved that.

Tough question with I think two answers.

The first answer is yes, because there's an absolute treasure trove of content that can easily last you hundreds of hours if it clicks with you and you like building different kinds of characters.

The second answer is no, because the game is six years old and you can regularly get all of the content on PC for under half that price. But I also know they have to recoup their dev costs for the port, too. I suppose it's worth noting that the expansions are not as old - Forgotten Gods, the second expansion, was a 2019 release. $55 is probably roughly what I paid for it all, and I don't regret it at all.

I think it's whether or not you're cool paying the premium in this case for a "new release". I'm sure Xbox will eventually get the discounts too, though don't know when. One thing to note is that the game is more Diablo 2 than Diablo 3, though it's not exactly either. There's no adventure mode - you play through the campaign to level up - though there is a rift-style type of end game now with the Forgotten Gods expansion. The itemization is somewhere in between D2 and D3. Through the campaign (3x), rares, epics (uniques), and legendaries (better uniques) will drop regularly and it's what you'll outfit in, but they don't drop tailored to your class like D3. In the end game, legendaries and sets are what you'd wear exclusively, and it does take some grinding to get them; you won't get like 10 copies of the same thing in one playthrough with slightly different stats.

Thanks much for the great response. I'll be picking it up.

Deep Rock Galactic, a little Risk of Rain 2, and maybe I can convince myself to start Mass Effect Legendary Edition.

The Guardians of the Galaxy game is excellent. The banter in between missions is maybe the best part of the game.

I'm still obsessed with Halo Infinite due to the fact that I have a large group of friends that play. When you get 4v4 or 3v3 private games while on Discord it's insanely fun.

So I'm clueless, how does Discord factor in with gaming? I thought it was just a kind of message board?

It has video/audio chat rooms, you can also share screens. Basically like Slack at work for gamers. We all use our cams and just the s**** talking and reactions brings back high school memories of LAN parties.

Ah, right on. Thanks. One of those things I've never picked up on.

I just dont have a full group of 4. I have hopes for Halo but idk if the game will ever quite get to the point of 2 or 3s MP.

Agreed. Halo 1/2/3 was the peak of my gaming career. Literally dozens of HS friends played together every day. That "high" is untouchable.

Infinite is scratching the itch though, it's enough to get me my fix.
