Having said that, glad I bet on Embiid and Giannis a couple weeks ago when it felt like the tide was starting to turn against Jokic; I see Embiid is now the betting favorite.

For some reason during GIannis injury games in January it was promoted that he was having a down season by the media and fans alike. That switched the narrative a too and people kept ignoring our injuries and condition. Embiid surely deserves it how he plays but it feels having something new winning MVP might be their choices unless Giannis goes on a tear.

I wouldn't have a huge problem with Embiid winning the MVP this season. It would feel a little like Denzel winning an Oscar for Training Day in that it would feel like him winning is as much about him not winning the last 2 years as it is about this season. But I think he's had an MVP-caliber season and the difference might be that for the first time in a long time he hasn't had an extended absence. He's going to play essentially the same number of games as he did a year ago, probably a little less but each of his absences have been for a week or less.

After the Sixers slow start Embiid is putting up 34/10/4/2 with a 65ts%. His monthly splits from November onwards are ridiculous. I am confused why a ton of Bucks fans don't think he's a more deserving candidate than either Jokic or specifically Giannis.

Not sure how Giannis' wrist is going to hold up playing every other night against the likes of Tucker or <insert 5 different Celtics players here> in the playoffs.

Was it realy that serious, that interview was during the Warriors game, i think it got worse because he played those two games after al star but i hope its nothing more serious that wouldn't heal by the playoffs

With jokic struggling and his defense being called out, it definitely opens the door for giannis who actually plays D. I think embiid is in the driver's seat but giannis has a chance.

Yeah how is this possible? You never had a Dirk type of starter before? Someone who stayed for their entire career for the Bucks?
Giannis has barely passed his midway point of his career and got the record already.

Need to have great players to have that much longevity. We had Ray, but the Bucks blew that.

Maybe if his name was Denise instead of Dennis.

Two names came to mind: Glenn and Sid. Glenn played 8 seasons here (568 games), and Sid played 10 (695 games - two seasons under 60 games). Giannis is in his tenth year and has been relatively ironman as far as current superstars go.

I think this is kinda what can happen when you end up drafting a superstar at 19. He can end up passing a lot of good/great players that were drafted when they were 22 (like both Glenn and Sid).

NBA MVP race: Oddsmakers treating Giannis Antetokounmpo like the clear No. 3 and it's not really clear why
...If there's a meaningful gap between the two in this period, you're not going to spot it in the raw numbers. Embiid averaged 2.5 more points, but Antetokounmpo created 5.3 more points per game through his assists. The Bucks have been far better defensively in that period, ranking fourth in the NBA while the 76ers have languished at 22nd....

Nice discussion on the race.

I would've thought redd. Played under multiple long-term contracts over a decade. Granted he had injuries at the end but thought he had enough built in at that point.

He's pulled back on some block attempts because of it but outside of that he looks pretty normal. It's hard to know how serious of an issue it's going to be once we're deep into the playoffs. He seems to be fighting though the pain pretty well atm (know idea how). But the playoffs are going to be a different story when guys are going to be constantly knocking it.

My hand has been like this for like 10 years now lol. I'll go to turn the doorknob and find that I just can't do it with my right hand today and have to switch to my left. Fun stuff.
