As one of HBOs big shows I have to watch WW. But my two cents on it is that I enjoy it from the cinematography type aspects, that stuff is absolutely top notch. Included in that I mean the sets, costumes, everything.

But the story is just massively complex and tough to follow. Basically, if you didn't have the internet to read afterwards it would be tough to know for sure that you know what's going on. I'm usually correct, sometimes wrong, in what I think is happening but I definitely have to double check everything the next day. Overall I think that's a negative on a show if it's just tough to watch on it's own.

Which one?

Really the post-credits sequence.

Agreed. West World is too complicated for anyone to follow without notes and episode recaps and reddit consults. On your own, would have to watch each season 2-3 times to figure out all the alternate consciousness stuff and who is who. Im not watching something multiple times just to decided if it is good or not. The plot is just a mess.

To a degree. I think you might lose out on some subtext and underlying meaning and motivation of characters and what not but if you just go with the flow you know enough to get what's happening, IMO.

I saw Parasite this afternoon. I'm not sure what the hype is all about, tbh. I thought it was a solid film, but nothing special. I kept waiting for a "holy ****" moment, but even the way it climaxed wasn't exactly stunning to me.

I'm genuinely confused by this comment. You expect a holy **** moment in great movies? Like a 6th Sense twist or something? Obviously have a bias here because it's one of my favorites in recent memory after one watch. What movie this year had a holy **** moment for you?

Also, I thought it did actually have that moment a couple times (no spoilers) with a very tense climax. My biggest gripe is that I don't think I really loved that ending.

Not necessarily a twist. But I expect a moment that makes me feel like I'm watching something amazing for a movie hyped as such, yes.

I don't begrudge anyone who loves it. I just don't feel the need to debate subjective taste. It was a fine movie. I'm glad you enjoyed it more than I did.

I get what you are saying, and I'm not sure how I didn't understand in the first place. I got that feeling that this movie is great while watching it. I've also had that feeling like you are talking about with highly regarded movies.

The Mike Vick “30 for 30” is really well done. What an amazing story. A kid from the ghetto getting drafted #1 at QB. Amazing success. Spectacular collapse, but in way that wasn’t morally opposed in the social circles he was raised in. You all know the story.. the youth football and college footage make it worth the watch.

Then you take two of the most polarizing things in our culture (race, and dogs) and the comments and emotions and perceptions are so divided.

Just a really interesting microcosm of our times.

Can anyone remember a situation like what in the hell's been going on with HBO and The New Pope? Damn near the entire season's been leaked online.

ETA: I didn't realize it was being shown earlier in Europe. Huh.

Saw 1917. It was decent, but it seemed like a vehicle to show off the camera work. I can't say it was a great movie or maybe even a good one.

I know you edited but GOT had a big leak I think on the second last season.

Still a very good show but I wish Bojack was more fun during its end run.

I’m with you. I enjoyed it but didn’t understand all the hype. I suspect I just didn’t “get” it.

Just about caught up with Season 1 of Succession and I'm glad I stuck with it. That bachelor party episode was hilarious.

I'm afraid to start the last few episodes because the end of the first half of the season implied that **** was going to get real dark.
