I thought I would hate Longlegs, but I didn't. Solid B, but with two big issues.

Spoiler:
The supernatural element is pretty tough to get past. Hated it, thought it was dumb, and it would have ruined other movies that weren't as well made.

The other problem is with our boy Nic Cage. I think they should have gone with a no-name actor for the role. As good as Cage is here, I didn't see a satan worshipping serial killer. I saw Nic Cage doing crazy. Just took me out of the movie.

I think it could have been a modern classic had the movie been more grounded in reality with a different actor playing the villain. Like see what the lead singer of Steel Panther is up to.

Spoiler:
I wanted to love it but I hated it specifically for the reasons you mentioned. They built up Cage's Longlegs as this terrifying figure and I went specifically to see it and was totally let down. Found it almost comical at times. My girlfriend literally wanted to leave halfway through and I needed to see how it ended and kept waiting for a payoff and was super let down by the crazy ass dolls controlling peoples actions angle.

I thought the first third or half did a really great job just creating tension and it was beautifully shot. It felt eerie, especially early on. When Longlegs killed himself, the thing that was supposed to represent the threat and the eeriness being gone just killed it for me. I would have been way more into the concept if it was pulled off as an unhinged serial killer, you could even keep the Satanic motivation, but the supernatural stuff ruined it for me.

My brother and SIL love it. Their favorite show right now. They have awful taste so this tracks.

I like Gyllenhaal in most of his roles but not this one. Kind of like Jodi Foster in True Detective.

There is something so satisfying about getting through a show that ran for 5+ years with over 100 episodes.

There's a Turkish show that I was watching for a while where the episodes were 105-165 minutes long and around 30-35 episodes a season. Netflix had it for a while, and they chopped the episodes into smaller parts and turned it into anywhere from 76-103 episodes a season with each episode about 45 minutes long.

I got through about 40 episodes into the first season on Netflix and realized that as much as I enjoyed the show, I couldn't keep watching this. There's so much else I wanted to watch and it would have taken up the next several months just to finish it if I didn't watch anything else.

Suffice to say, there's something nice about having a show that has 12-14 hour-long episodes that where I can blast through a season in a week and then move on to other content. We only have so much time to dedicate to television.

It's got a 76% critics score on RT.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

I would move Last Jedi down below Tales of the Jedi and bump Acolyte and Bad Batch up above Phantom Menace, but yeah, pretty good.

They also didn’t include Tales of the Sith or Empire or whatever it’s called unless that’s packaged with the Jedi version.

I've passed on a lot of stuff on that list, but Solo is worse than all 9 of the mainline films.

I don't recall if I mentioned it in this thread, but you should check out Scavengers Reign on Netflix if you are into scifi even just a little. It is such an interesting show. You'll know extremely quickly if you are into it.

Honestly, I still didn't know by the time the show wrapped whether or not I liked it.

I definitely appreciate that it was made and I was hoping it would get a Netflix bump when it switched over so we'd get a season two. I see it got some Emmy love.

Rewatched Happy Endings, New Girl, and coming to the end of Brooklyn 99. Time well spent over the last year but gonna go with hour long dramas now and it's either 24 or Lost. Started with 24 tonight and man, it's something. Jack Bauer shoots a coworker inside of 20 minutes.

Phantom Menace on the top half of the list is a scathing indictment on the whole enterprise. Whether you take "the whole enterprise" to mean "this list" or "Star Wars", you are correct.
