our '31 pick shouldnt be moved for anything thats available

the way I see it as long as it's at least top-5 protected it's fine

*there will be 7 NBA finals between now and the '31 draft*

either Giannis will be washed/gone/retired and we can tank (guaranteeing we keep the pick) in 30/31 or we'll still be a playoff team and it won't be particularly valuable

The only way we can protect the 2031 pick is to have it become our 2031 2nd if it doesn't convey. So now to trade Pat, we can only offer the unprotected part of that 2nd. I'm sure teams will be breaking down the door for a pick that's either a late 2nd or it doesn't convey.

Also, don't expect other players to be coming back in a Lavine package, because his trade kicker eats up all the room we can create.

I'm not positive but I can't fathom that this is true? You can protect a pick as far as 7-years out if you really wanted to. Most simply convey within 2-3 years because teams wouldn't agree to that otherwise.

Yeah, no way I'm throwing Giannis in.

I'm ok including the 2031 pick on most any deal, only because recently i was told I have advanced cancer and it's incurable.

(sorry, not trying to be a downer)

Damn, dude.

I’m sorry to hear that.

Bucks should stay away from Jimmy.

Correct, but this pick is already seven years out, so you can't push it out any farther. That's the limit. This was confirmed by GAD weeks ago.

There are always NBA fans that defend Jimmy. And he’s certainly not a terrible person in the sense that some athletes are, Im not trying to paint him as a villain. But Miami is going to be the fourth team that got so tired of his drama that they were happy to move on.

Miami is a stronger team with Khris and Bobby. It’s not like they’re getting Ben Simmons.

I watched that KC Johnson ‘report’. I’m not sure he disclosed anything new at all. Feel like he’s riding the same public domain stuff that Sidery is pushing.

Thanks man (and German Athens). I definitely don't wanna highjack the thread. Wasn't gonna say anything but this place has been like family to me for a long time now, so I figured what the hell. Quite a kick to the nuts but it is what it is.

Love you all.

I’ll do my own Sidery.

Jaime Jacquez out tonight. They claim it’s stomach flu.

Wow man, I thought you were kidding. Hope you have blast for the rest of your run. You've been so great to us here. Helped us keep our sanity when we were waiting for the Giannis extension.

All of our thoughts here are with you. Basketball is just a game but this is one big, sometimes dysfunctional, family.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Sending love from the collective RealGM fam.

Also, squad: the pressure for all of us to make quality posts is now supercharged!

Regardless of what Horst gives us to work with.

For VooDoo: The legend who kept this board from melting down when all seemed lost with Giannis, and so much more.

Maybe VooDoo can out his source now. He’s in the hall of fame around here for calling his shot there. Kept me sane for sure.

Jaquez is interesting to me but I don't know why because I also don't think he's that good. Sometimes a guy who isn't that good can plug a lot of holes though. I have no idea how trading 2 ways even works but I would love to steal Keshad Johnson from them into our 2nd two way spot (sorry Liam).

But they would be under the 2nd apron so they could attach cash to Wright and/or Marjon and maybe turn them into Yubasele, Banton or Reath?

Yes, also Banton and Yubusele are eligible for the minimum salary exception. Reath isn't because he's on his rookie deal, despite being 28.

1) Miami is no position to negotiate a lot. If they can get out of Butler's contract, they should consider it a win. No GM worth their salt will give up a lot for a malcontent with huge demands and a team (MIami) that wants to get rid of him.

2) Not one poster here who wants Lavine can explain why it's a good idea to take on a contract that is owed 100 million the next two years and thereby guarantee the Bucks are a second apron team.

LaVine’s deal is one year longer than Khris, and if your argument is it will be easier to trade an expiring Khris in 25/26 the same argument could be applied to an expiring LaVine in 26/27. He’s on the back end of his deal.

LaVine is a good player right now. He’s overpaid, but you can live with an overpaid good player.
