Re: OT: Music Thread
They wanted to play together again but their singer is dead. I think it's fine, it's not controllable that the music isn't great, though I'd make the concession that out of respect for their fans, maybe they shouldn't have called themselves Linkin Park. It's like the version of Skynyrd playing the fair circuit, or Queen with the American Idol guy. If you were expecting a return to form, you had to be ignoring that the form does not exist to return to. And even if the guy was still alive, you'd have to be pretty optimistic to think their stuff would have held an edge for 20 years.
Full disclosure, though: "aggressively mid" describes Linkin Park pretty damn well to me in any incarnation. I never understood what distinguished them from all the similar moody 'polished metal with a DJ' stuff that flourished around the time they were hot.

The National is as incredible live as everyone says. Also I heard Apartment Story live and it feels like a ‘can die in peace’ moment.

Checking in. I am all over the map lately. Everyone needs to listen to Big Thief, though. Adrianne Lenker is special.

My recent jams. I was pretty uninspired with releases to start the year, but really picking up steam for me the past couple months.

Man, what a show. War on Drugs are one of my favorite bands, but didn't know a ton about The National. They are REALLY good. My wife and I have been listening to their Spotify station for weeks. Great show. It helped I had about 12 Summer Shandys.

I loved it as a music venue. Being able to wander around the field in between sets to get some food, drinks, go to the merch stands, find friends was so much better than trying to do any of that in a cramped indoor space standing on concrete for five hours. My only note for them would be better non-beer drink selection (loved beer once upon a time, but GF). Wollersheim is sweet, trash wine and there were no seltzer options I could find. So I was less buzzed than you were

We missed Lucius' set, unfortunately. I really wanted to see them as I love their song Old Tapes ft. Adam G from War on Drugs. But War killed it too, for sure. I was remiss to not give them a shout out for their set. Pain and Red Eyes are two of my faves.

Tickets starting at the low, low price of $150.
I was thinking how much inflation sucks because when I went I remembered them being around $30, then just now my cousin sent me this photo of the ticket when he and I went.

Yep, Breese is great. So open and free, which is the biggest reason I cannot stand to go to 50-60K concerts (being crowded in and being so loud you cannot hear yourself think). I had zero interest in Coldplay at Camp Randall before I saw the ticket prices. I love outdoor and small venue shows. Sylvee is an amazing spot to watch a show if you haven't been, Death Cab there might have been the best concert I've seen. Also saw ARIZONA and Bush there recently.
"Pain" is what got me on War on Drugs. And yes, "Red Eyes" is an absolute banger.

Flew down to Melbourne with my kid and saw Thom Yorke play last night. Absolutely magical. He is only doing 2 shows in Melbourne, 2 in Sydney on this tour and the Sydney ones sold out straight away and we just were able to nab some tickets for Melbourne. Worth it.
Smattering of songs from almost everything he’s been involved with, finished with an all Radiohead encore.
