I played (and beat) AfterParty on Gamepass over the last two days. I ran into some stutters and my game crashed once, but it was a really fun laid back game to play while I’m stuck home with the flu. The writing and voice work was top notch.

Had never heard of it before but I'll be sure to check it out this weekend. Looks funny as hell.

I pulled the trigger on FIFA this weekend, which is pretty much the only game I plan to buy this fall. The only other game I'm really looking forward to is TLOU2, which isn't going to come until next spring.

I do wonder why Sony and Naughty Dog don't work together to simply delay the game until the fall as one of the release titles for PS5. Truthfully, that might make me buy a PS5 right away.

Polygon's 100 best games of the last 10 years. Looking at the list I've played 55 of those, but some very briefly. Don't have any qualms off the top of my head, though I'm sure I would if I thought about it more.

Only one that jumps out to me as a hard disagree is "Destiny 2," but maybe it really is that much better now than it was in it's first year. I hate playing "Fortnite," but you can't dispute it's impact on the industry.

I think Skyrim is quite a bit low and they briefly mention Hearthstone but that game is still one of the most popular games in the world. It should be on here.

Good call, that should definitely be somewhere on this list for it's impact alone.

Highly subjective list that I don't know if I can respect. I realize it's based on taste but to have The Last of Us at 59 and Death Stranding above it, and NBA 2K12 far above it, is pretty egregious.

The thing about Death Stranding is that the people who love it, really love it. The IGN review came at it from what seemed like a practical gaming perspective. But I read David Erlich's Indie Wire review and he considers it a work of art along the lines of the best of cinema, and one of the best gaming experiences ever. Maybe I'll give it shot, but I have a real hard time believing I'd be able to stick with it.

"Best games" is obviously pretty subjective. I don't think Fortnite or PUBG should crack anyone's top 11 list for best games, though they certainly had a broad cultural impact. But if we're considering cultural impact, then GTA5+GTA Online should easily be in the top 10. Super Mario Odyssey not even getting on the list is amazing to me, as that game was tremendously fun to play.

I agree that TLOU is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too low, as I don't think I've ever played a game that had me on the edge of my seat as often as that game did. It remains the only game that forced me to put the controller down because of how emotionally shaken I was by certain moments in the game.

Spider-Man should be on that list, too, IMO.

I don't like that they seemed to only take one game per franchise, and I would disagree with their choices in some instances. Like, AC: Odyssey. It's the most polished, most expansive, and maybe tells the best story (that part I would disagree). But no way would I have it on the list over AC:II. That game, for better or worse, basically created the now standard Ubisoft open world that everyone copies.

All of this right here. Super Mario Galaxy (and 2) is pretty much viewed as the spiritual successors to SM64, and yet they go with 3D Land, which was pretty much as panned as a Mario platformer gets for being samey? And if we're going for cultural impact, then Candy Crush and Angry Birds should be in the top 10 as well. The list inherently doesn't make sense and moves the goalposts.

I think you guys aren't giving Fortnite enough credit for being an incredible game.

Damn... I need to step my game up. I've played 10, own 3 others that I haven't cracked open yet.

Either that, or I need to branch out more in the types of games I play lol

I'm at 55. For my own amusement I'm making a list of every game I've played in the last ten years and I'm coming upon some real surprises they didn't include in the top 100. I'm partial to Borderlands 2 and absolutely think it should be on there. But a real stunner is Bioshock 3. That one gets story and "art" cred in addition to being a really excellent game.

I tried, but I just didn't like the construction aspect.

I went a long time without playing any video games and I bought an Xbox one last fall to try to get back into it and it didn't really happen.

I did have fun with rocket league for a little while

(these are all playable at the links)
I saw that there was a freeware JRPG Psychological Thriller Visual Novel Dating Simulator on there so had to download it
(#66 Doki Doki Literature Club https://ddlc.moe/). Waiting to see how dark it gets. If you can tolerate that kind of stuff it's already pretty entertaining. I play a decent amount of visual novels, the storytelling and pacing can be pretty engaging (and I'm a shameless bastard).

Frog Fractions (#61 http://twinbeard.com/frog-fractions/) looks like it's worth a shot as a freeware browser game as well. There used to be some really great freeware stuff, like Scorched Earth (https://classicreload.com/res/scorched-earth.html) which was basically Worms but with tanks. Still holds up pretty well.

I'll probably have to pick up Death Stranding at some point soon, there's no way it's bad. Weird to see it on this list already though, considering it doesn't even come out till Friday.

While I am not a PvP FPS fan myself, so I am sure there is some bias, I also truly don't think that Fortnite is an amazing FPS, which is what it's placement says it is. I think it capitalized on its amazing idea - that itself is groundbreaking and possibly deserving of the spot it got on its own right, given the popularity of the genre - but there is nothing particularly great about the mechanics from what I played. It is quite generic shooting. Building is cool, but not something to make it top 5 in a 10 year period if looking at gameplay.

I also completely **** object to Person 5 not being on the list just because P4G is. P5 is possibly the greatest JRPG ever.

I have come to hate lists like this. It isn't just disagreement on placement of games I like; they usually just suck at setting the appropriate boundaries of what is or is not included. IGN, quite famously, is the worst.

I'm sure you guys have seen high level Fortnite footage. The building aspect is what sets it apart, not the shooting (which is still pretty great). The people who play it and take it seriously look like goddamn wizards. The buildings they make and the speed to which they do it is insane.

I gave up on the game right around the time the first season ended, so I'm not here defending a game I even played all that much. But I've sorta kept up with the community and how it's evolved into an honest to god social platform and I think it's pretty cool.

I’m with you on Borderlands 2.... that’s probably a personal top 10 for me... I love that game.
