Dumb question: If you have meat brining in your fridge for over a week, do you have to worry about it going bad? What about a Turkey?
Also how much does a prime brisket cost and where do you buy it?

3rd weekend in a row my daughter has been sick with something. Different each time. This now makes it every month this year she (and us parents) have been sick. 2022 can **** right off.

That looks incredible. I wanted to do my own corned beef this year, too. Still may.
Me calling SXM to get my deal renewed...
Me: Hi my subscription is about to expire and I want to stay at my current rate.
Them: Sorry we do not renew rates. The current rate is (3x as much).
Me: Yes you do, I do this every year. I need a new rate.
Them: Ok we can do (2x as much).
Me: No thanks, I need my current rate.
Them: Ok we can do your current rate, but would you like to add (unnecessary package).
Me: No.
Them: Ok thank you, you are now renewed at your current rate.
They're seriously worse than Charter/Spectrum, but bigger pushovers, lol.

Good advice. Basically do this with any subscription or annual fee. I always call on my credit cards on a drive home and listening to their spiel until they say "Thanks for being a loyal customer, we have decided to wave your fee". These companies cannot lose subscribers.

They don't outline how much you get sick as a parent. My toddler is usually pretty happy and active, but not a snuggler. When he is sitting on your lap all night and looks sad, it is only 36 hours until I'm just completely down for the count with an illness.

Costco or Sams is gonna be your best bet on prime briskets. You will have to trim a decent amount of fat off but you can buy them split id imagine you could ask the butcher there to do it but I just do that at home. I usually look at them because the quality can vary even in the prime cuts. I know you can order american wagyu and prime cuts online but i havent. I have no brined one yet as I usually smoke the entire thing but I might have to split one and do something like this sans Guinness.

The first 6 months after we put our first kid in preschool damn near killed us. We were all sick the whole damn time, catching **** like strep throat and vomiting viruses that I hadn't had since I was a kid. My wife got hand foot and mouth, luckily I missed that one.MartyConlonOnTheRun wrote:jschligs wrote:3rd weekend in a row my daughter has been sick with something. Different each time. Second kid wasn't nearly as bad. Although it was during COVID so like any little sniffle we felt bad sending him but **** if a preschooler stays home every time they get a runny nose they'll never go to school.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

A cat's general disinterest is highlighted all the more by living with a dog. The general vibe around here is;
Dog: "I would take a bullet for you!"
Cat: "I'll be the one pulling the trigger."

Man, this happened to me too. I was going on 14 days of illness, with a changing constellation of symptoms (a sore throat and hacking cough being the constants). I couldn't believe it wasn't breakthrough Covid, but I continued to turn up negative tests, both at-home and nucleic acid. Finally doc took a throat culture and proclaimed I had what is becoming a common kind of bacteria that is apparently renowned for its ability to both linger and deliver multiple infections, and here on day 19 it feels like I'm finally coming out the other side.
Here's hoping some rest and tussin PM shall be the cure that ails.

The Sonos logo is the same upside-down as it is rightside-up, yet somehow only ever looks upside down to me.

Re: OT: General OT Thread [NO POLITICS OR RELIGION]
The weather is turning, which means it's time for gin - which I associate with spring and summer. Fun new cocktail I've been toying with, to twist on the white lady.
2oz Gin (I've been using Botanivore)
3/4oz Cointreau
1/2oz St. Germain
1/2oz lemon juice
If you like sweet, can also add a pinch of sugar or some simple syrup, though I find St. Germain sweet enough generally
Shake with ice and serve up. It's delicious. I've also tried with a sugared rim, and with an egg white, and both work well for some extra flair.

Sounds great. My wife is a whiz with these gin drinks and uses St. Germain in a lot of them (along with egg whites).
I feel like we've talked about this before, but either way I'll be making these soon.

Not sure where to put this so it's going here.
1. It's a great day to be a Hammer. WEST HAM IS MASSIVE.
2. Lyon's crowd to start was insane. Even down 3-0 they're still raging. The passion in soccer outside of the US is incredilbe.
3. I've been having such an amazing run of sports lately. West Ham was utter rubbish for decades. Bucks were poor. Now it's all turning around.

We got our 'beardy' last week for her daughters birthday. Did you end up getting one? Im new to reptile ownership but so far so good, she's eating and healthy. Cool little creature, very friendly.Gianstoppable wrote:WeekapaugGroove wrote:Man what timing, my daughter is turning 7 in April and wants a lizard or a turtle for her birthday. We're leaning towards a Bearded Dragon because they seem a little more sturdy than some of the others. Good info!Gianstoppable wrote:Any Bearded Dragon owners out there?
Our 5 year old has been begging for one (we are the main caretakers but she has been really enjoying learning some stuff and doing the things to help) she earned $250 for a study at my wifes workplace and she really wanted to use it towards one. (Yes, we know its a long term commitment, mama and myself have been wanting one forever so secretly its for us too lol)
Got our setup in a 36x18x18 tank. Kinda wish we went bigger for future but we can always upgrade I suppose. Have a basking light, UBV light, thermometer/humidity meters, supplements, light timer power strip etc. Hes only a few weeks old and we have the turf style substrate and have a sandy rocky substrate that is not loose.
Basically curious, am I doing this right? Lol
Best recommendations for a night heater? Ceramic sounds best? Looking for a good thermostat for it though because the room stays about 70F.
Best substrate?
Can you do natural plants?
We put aluminum foil on top if the metal grate (lights mount to bottom of grate) and that seems to keep everything at a perfect temp with cool zones. Is that a good option? Looks a bit silly but it works for now otherwise the heat just gets the basking spot and my thermometer doesnt seem to get much above 72 unless its in basking. I did order a heat gun to be more accurate as once I'm homed in I should be good since our home maintains pretty constant temps.
Thanks in advance!

Wow that's funny timing! We told our daughter she might be moving away from home and bringing this fella with. My buddys brother bought one thinking 5-8 years, lived 22 years lmao.
