I legitimately thought Brooks was a minimum salary guy. WTF.

If you're the Clippers, why would you pursue Harden (an all-time playoff dropper) instead of Lillard? Clippers also have tons of expiring salary, which I have to think is more appealing than Herro/Robinson on multi-year deals. Plus those post-Kawhi/PG picks are more likely to be in the lottery than Miami's. (And why not send Terrance Mann over to the Milwaukee Bucks for helping to facilitate the deal with an expiring Grayson Allen and the Blazers' own 2024 2nd rounder?)
Why would the Blazers want expiring contracts? Id go the other way and try to take on as much bad money as possible in the Dame deal if it resulted in more picks and young guys with it.

Dillon Brooks is 6'7, in his mid-20s, coming off an All-Defense selection, and scored 18 PPG last year (granted on abominable efficiency)

He seems like an immature tool but I think people have been overcorrecting on what that means for his value

They could do that next summer after they clear the books this season. 2024 draft class is supposed to be bad so they may not want to load up on picks for that draft.

Two seconds for KJ Martin and we traded 5 second rounders for Crowder.

Yeah I'm confused by this one. Like no one else would give up a 1? Martin is good.

Brooks is instantly one of the worst contracts in the league. OMEGALUL.

Role players on 20 win teams are pretty tough for me to give the legitimately good label to.

Houston paying more than $60 mil annually between FVV and Dillon Brooks to be a 35-win basketball team is certainly a choice.

This is too much too soon for Ball imo. He's very talented but a long way away from being a franchise guy.

He’s going to get paid next year. That’s what I was hammering the table for the Bucks to sign and trade Brook for him and the tpe. You essentially retain the salary slot when you extend Martin and you’d get the TPE to absorb a veteran come buyout time or this offseason when teams are trying to shed guys to sign players.

Horst's tunnel vision has been one of his worst traits.

Houston is insane for giving Brooks that money.

Westbrook for 2 years/8 mil would have been SWEET!

I thought he’d get TPMLE money at best, but I’d didn’t account for the fact that Houston HAD to spend the money and decided to spend it in the worst way possible.

Lillard to the Clippers, Terrance Mann to the Bucks, Morris/Batum/Covington/Allen/2024 Blazers 2nd/2028+30 Clippers 1st/2029 Clippers swap would clear almost $50m off the Blazers' books, all 4 of those expirings could be moveable at the deadline as well to take on longer term money and future picks.

Plus neither James Harden nor the Miami Heat would get what they want!

It's just the rookie max extension dressed up to sound expensive and fancy.
