That’s better than what the kings got today but I’m not sure they would evaluate it like that. They are a clown show

I told you dudes we needed to draft Sabonis. But Hammond, Kidd and Lasry loved themselves some 24-year old Thon Maker. Sabonis isn't the answer for most teams, but he's a valuable trade chip.

Also said for the past month the Kings would do something stupid. And they did.

Thus endeth my TED Talk.

OK, so I honestly think Sabonis and Haliburton are realatively equal talent wise. I like Hali but I don't think he's ever going to be a superstar.

BUT why the hell do you trade one of the few guys who liked being in Sac, is on a rookie deal, and is loved by your beaten down fan base?

Edit; kings fans taking this well

Not sure why this was my immediate thought but I think its true, if you're Darryl Morey you better end up with Harden or Lillard because it seems pretty clear you could've gotten Halliburton and Hield for Simmons if you wanted it.

I don't like the trade for the Kings but y'all are acting like Hali some future superstar. They got the best player in the deal who is also only 25 and who stands a damn good chance of being the best player in the trade 3 years from now.

The only thing I can come up with is they are intent on building around Fox (even though it caps your ceiling because he’ll get super exposed by forced switches in the playoffs if they ever got there) and they think him and Sabonis is a nice PnR combo.

But yeah, Hali is the only guy I would have kept if I were them. Sell everyone else for picks or young players with upside.

I personally think Sabonis is a little bit of fools gold. He's good but he's also a tough player to build around as the Pacers found out. To have that be your centerpiece of a return for your best young building block is risky at best.

I’m just not a Sabonis guy. He’s David Lee with a cooler last name.

PP is right though he is better than Thon Maker.

Interesting deadline so far. The Blazers are clearing all the cap space and the Kings are going all out for a play in spot.

Because the only path to a championship for a team that can’t sign big time FAs is to draft or trade for them. Hali has the glimmer of hope that he could become a top three guy on a contender. Maybe not likely but if everything broke right. Not to mention, he WANTED to be in Sactown.

Sabonis raises their floor but limits their ceiling. He’ll never be a top three guy on a title team.

Choosing to build around Fox instead of Hali also limits their ceiling because if they ever make the playoffs they are getting bounced in four games when Fox’s size/D get exposed big time.

Would love Sabonis as our 4th/5th guy, but he is not a 1 or 2 option, probably not a 3rd option on contender. casuals think sabonis is some difference maker when he's just a slightly better gooden. just watch some Bucks Vs Indy games where they eat sabonis alive each and every time, while sabonis will get "his."

Absolutely agree about the fit thing. You basically need a big long PF next to him to cover his defensive deficiencies and that guy needs to be cool standing out at the 3pt line on O. In a league where modern PFs are trending smaller it's hard to find guys like that.

Oh and in a vacuum he's absolutely good enough to be the 3rd best player on a contender. It's just that he's a weird fit on most of those teams.

Haliburton is 21 years old and over the last month and a half (24 games) has averaged 17/4/9 on 47/43/87 shooting. I am gutted for Kings fans. He's gonna be a star
