Spoiler:
I am surprised they revealed it this soon. Thought there was a chance they didn't show anything in the trailers and then used a scene like that to open S4. Similar to when the Hound was brought back in Thrones.

I love the books, and went in with some apprehension - the movie left an awful taste - but I ended up liking the show quite a bit. Similar to the Witcher, I think HDM did a lot right when it comes to laying the groundwork for a great show, but the execution was a bit up and down Season 1. The visuals, world design, and casting are all quite strong, but there are some bizarre editing decisions that betray the BBC/Dr.Who influence on the first season (soap opera style rapid cuts and scene changes). The narrative is strong enough, imo, to withstand some front-loaded exposition dumping, but be warned, it starts a bit slow. In what I hope is a good sign for S2, the season improves as it goes, and I think they stick the landing in E8.

Book reader complaint:
Spoiler:
My biggest complaint is how Daemons are handled. I understand that the CGI is expensive, but their presence isn't really felt for much of the season, and this has a ramping negative effect on how narrative and emotional beats land in the second half of the season. A daemon is literally an external manifestation of your soul, not just a talking pet. The show struggles to really make this clear, and it detracts from sequences that are supposed to be infused with existential horror.
Thanks dude, I think I'll give it a shot once I finish Narcos Mexico (excellent show). I literally know nothing of this franchise source material but I kind of like going in blind with an open mind on some shows.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

I did a fist pump at the end of last season when it was revealed Scoot Mcnairy was the narrator slash protagonist of this next season. I'm sure I'll binge the hell out of it this weekend.

Just watched season three of Brockmire. Have adored the series, I have a huge bias, I love baseball and Amanda Peer, but Hank Azaria absolutely killed it.

We watched Parasite for V-day (lol), and while I really liked it, I'm not sure I get everyone tripping over themselves to call it zomg one of the best movies evar. I didn't really see anything else this year, so I'm not speaking to it and Oscars success as I don't have a base to judge from, but I know people who freak.out. over this movie.

But again, I did really like it. I was wondering in what way the second half was going to unfold and I was not disappointed. I also was not expecting it.

I just got into Bosch on Amazon. I dig it.

I really do hope that Parasite leads to people exploring Korean cinema. I liked it a lot but it was almost tame compared to a lot of Korean movies. If you like "guy" movies the list of must see movies is incredibly long:

Vengeance trilogy:
Oldboy
Sympathy for Mr Vengeance
Lady Vengeance
(To be clear they are not related in any way other than theme)

The Man From Nowhere

The Good the Bad and the Weird

I Saw the Devil

Bong Joon Ho movies:
Memories of Murder
Mother
The Host

That's just to get you started. It's an incredible journey and even though Parasite isnt my favorite of these it's high time Korean filmmaking is rewarded for their excellence.

I'll second that. from that list my personal faves - The Man from Nowhere, I Saw the Devil, Oldboy, Mother, The Host (which is even better if you smoke weed).

Some other good ones to check out would be a couple of Bongs old movies, Okja and Snowpiercer and then other Korean films like Train to Busan and Burning. I believe they are all still on Netflix.

I've only been able to watch the first two, hope to watch more tonight. Good so far. I'm using the lack of NBA games this week to catch up on stuff.

I finished it last night. Good overall. Maybe got a few too artsy on some things and maybe some extra things put into that wasn't needed. Story maybe getting a smidge too complicated/big, but overall it was very well done and interesting. They've set it up well and I'm sure there will be at least another season, if it hasn't been announced yet. I'll keep watching and it'll continue to be one that I have to watch right away

Finished The New Pope. Just an outrageous show. I liked it. Definitely my favorite Jude Law performance.
