Donte's problem is he needs to do more than he seems capable of doing right now.

Yep. If Donte is your 5th best starter, you’re doing fine. Replacing Brook is a much more urgent matter.

The team doesn't tank when Brook is on the floor, but the team tanks with DJA or Forbes on the floor. 1st priority is a 3rd guard. Next priority is another forward for our small ball lineup. If it takes Brook to acquire them, so be it.

Let Brogdon go and then overpay an inferior player in Donte would be pretty on brand.

Someone should do the starting two guard on the last 10-15 champions. Would be curious how they stack up to DDV.

Bradley/KCP and Green were the 3 and D guards starting last year he's better than all three
2019: Green
2018: Warriors superteam
2017 Warriors superteam
2016: JR Smith
2015: Harriosn Barnes was the role player although a SF, teams put their worst guard on him so this basically holds
2014: Green again
2013: Mario Chalmers
2012: Chalmers
2011: DeShawn Stevenson
2010: Derek Fisher
2009: Fisher

So basically what the anti-Donte guys actually mean is that he isn't a starting calibre player on the Curry/Durant/Klay Warriors.

2019: Lebron/AD
2018: Warriors superteam, - Klay/SG
2017: Warriors superteam, - Klay/SG
2016: Lebron, Kyrie, Kevin Love
2015: Curry, Thompson, Green - Klay/SG, not Barnes who was the stretch 4
2014: Parker, Kawhi, Duncan
2013: Lebron, Bosh, Wade, Allen - Chalmers was the PG - Wade/SG
2012: Lebron, Bosh, Wade - Chalmers was the PG - Wade/SG
2011: Dirk, Kidd, Marion, Chandler - Stevenson started 3/6 games, and avg'd 15mpg in the series. Terry got 30mpg+ as SG, Kidd played SG when Barea entered the lineup. Terry/SG
2010: Kobe, Gasol, Odom, Artest - Fisher was the PG - Kobe/SG
2009: Kobe, Gasol, Odom, Ariza - Fisher was the PG - Kobe/SG

Showing how all of those teams either had bigger star's and required less from the 2 spot than we have...or had different players actually at SG than you stated. At least be truthful when typing out a narrative like that.

Still can't believe we didn't stump up for Brogdon. We could in theory have a closing 'death' lineup of Jrue, Brogs, Midds, Donte and Giannis (I can't remember the cap math at the time. I seem to remember we maybe would've lost Hill/Brooke/both by re-signing Brogs?) :( I say 'in theory' as maybe we couldn't/wouldn't have held onto Brogs in a Jrue trade. Still kinda depressing. That five man unit would've crushed so badly with its combo of high level shooting, passing and D.

IMO, the reason you need a superstar is to get the calls from the refs. Of course that's somewhat mitigated against the bucks because Giannis isn't a good FT shooter, and because they probably under-call fouls against him because of his freakishness.

Someone save me the trouble of coming up with an "elite role player" starting 5, with say Joe Harris as your Shooter and Gobert as your interior defender. add the best distributor, best 3&D power forward, and best 3&D wing. Do you have a championship team? probably not.

I think trading DJA or Forbes + a pick for someone who takes their minutes plus maybe half the minutes of the one who wasn't traded (DJA or Forbes) plus 1-2 of Donte's minutes and a few of Pat's minutes would have a ripple-down effect even if the guy wouldn't start. That would be over 30 minutes a game. Assuming he's good enough to earn those minutes, that would be a big improvement. I just don't know who that guy could be, but he's a combo guard or tall PG.

It seems that Coach Obradovic is FA. Last 20 years he only coached 2 teams, Panathinaikos and Fener... its so rare and right on time.
Just fire Bud and sign Obradovic a 5 year deal.
He will 1000% get us at least one Ring in his time.
Please Owners if you even care to win it all just hire Obradovic NOW .

As far as realistic gets, sounds a lot like Delon Wright.

And we used a 1st acquired for Brogdan to get Jrue.

I'm still utterly shocked people would want Brogdans style of PG on this team. Yet when he played PG here, people couldn't stand it.

He wanted to be a PG!

Rumor is that a team has already offered 2 late 1sts, and Cleveland turned it down.

He'd last two weeks at most. Not a single NBA vet would play for his domineering coaching style.

He's no dummy. He can see the differences in power held by European vs. NBA coaches. Highly doubt he'd make the move.

My out of the blue coaching hire would be Jared Dudley. Functionally a player-coach for the better part of a decade already.

We're back in the days of when we had to play Damon Jones and Erick Strickland.

Just don't see a pathway trade to a real upgrade given our lack of assets and hard cap.
