FWIW, this is the tab I've had open the last couple of days or so:

https://www.zoolert.com/videogames/consoles/playstation5/

And I also had a pre-alert set for future stock announcements with Telegram. Best Buy **** the bed on me this morning, but was able to make it through Walmart.

Holy ****, just watched the Cyberpunk IGN review for base PS4s and Xbox's. I can't believe CDPR allowed that game into the wild.

Hoping y'all might be able to help a brother out here. One of my dearest friends is big into gaming. In particular, he does speedruns of Final Fantasy, Zelda, and a bunch of other games. Trying to think of a Christmas idea for him without actually asking him directly about games he might enjoy and stuff.

I haven't played Hades at all and I'm not really familiar with that genre of games, but my gut feeling is that it might be up his alley. What do you guys think?

Or if not, do you have any suggestions?

I think it's tough to recommend games for someone who's big into gaming, because he's probably already played them. Hades would be a great one to recommend, but it's probably the game of the year and it's hard to believe he wouldn't already have it.

Yeah, I definitely hear you on that. The things that give me hope on that front are:

1. He's usually doing so many speedruns of older games that he keeps going back to that he doesn't play as many new games as you'd think (with the main exception being the Final Fantasy series, which he gets paid for by Square Enix, and the NHL games).

2. He does have a Switch that I guess I could check his playing time on, but I checked his Steam account and Hades isn't in there so I don't think he's played it on PC.

Just getting him a Steam card would be the safe approach but I've done that already once when he was just having a bad day and gift cards always feel too easy to me for a thoughtful Christmas gift haha.

I'm a terrible friend when it comes to reaching out to people on my own accord but I try my best to make up for it by being a good listener when they reach out and providing good gifts haha.

I called him earlier today because I'm trying to be better about that and he put his long-distance girlfriend on hold because he assumed it must be an emergency if I was calling

I haven't turned on my Switch in months, but I just learned that DKC2 dropped for NS Online in September, and DKC3 is out now also. The entire trilogy is now available. So, I'll be doing that :D

It was never remotely on my radar. Thought it would be some mediocre game for kids, but sounds like not really.

Man, I'm actually really enjoying Fenyx (on ps4) so far 10 hours in. It's just FUN. It's basically BOTW with GOW combat. I read elsewhere it's like BOTW crossed with AC but I haven't played an AC game since AC2 on PS3 so, not sure.

Damnit, man. It's $40 right now and I think I'm gonna get it because I'm weak, lol.

Yea, I ordered it for curbside pickup at Best Buy this afternoon. I'm drowning in games right now it feels like, but for $40 I can't pass that up.

I've mentioned the Pulse 3D headset being surprisingly good. Just an update tonight, as I've streamed music via Spotify through them while playing Cyberpunk, and they're still very nice. I don't know what the line is between cheap and light, but these are the first cans I've owned where I mostly don't notice them on my head when I move around the apartment or adjust as I'm playing a game.

I dunno, I'm impressed. I'd hold off on buying them if you have nice headphones, but I got them because of the relatively cheap cost and how Sony seems to be invested in making the gaming experience better if you have them. I LOVED playing Demon's Souls with them.

My verdict is they're a good wireless headset at a great price, with the potential to be amazing if Sony delivers on their vision.

*clears throat* TAKE, these broken WINGS!

I am loving this game so far. It's like an Ubisoft game without the Ubisoft bull. And I actually like the narrative commentary that some of the reviewers didn't like. I'm sure I'll have more thought when I'm further in, but early returns are good.

I don't love the mini dungeons but just running around the world map doing all the random sh*t is a blast. I can't remember last time I would just play a game and lose hours just messing around like this tbh.

A little frustrated at the moment. I have the game but no PS5 to play it on. Looks like it's going to be pretty impossible to get one for awhile unless you are a psychopath and have time to stalk all the online retailer sites for the 3 seconds they are available before selling out again.

I briefly thought of picking it up for PS4, then wondered about the Switch version- mentioned it to my son thinking it might be a good Christmas gift, got a blunt "unless you've lined up a PS5 I wouldn't bother" (so clearly the whole world knows about it!).
