Watching Christian Wood play it’s obvious he learned so much from Giannis to his credit......would kill to have Wood over Wilson

Where does keeping Pau Gasol over Wood rank in Horst's moves?

44/17 from Harden after two stepback threes

Yes he does. This is the BIGGEST disappointment in Giannis' development for me. He seems much less agile now and it is not even close. It is even apparent when he needs to guard someone in the 3 point line. Half of the players blow by Giannis who depends on his length to recover.

Yes. The agility is down. As his hulk-ness has increased, his flexibility, agility, and conditioning has suffered. For better or worse (worse, imo), the NBA has decided to punish players who utilize strength to overwhelm opponents and reward players who are knocked off course by a strong breeze on the perimeter.

It's time to stop gaining mass. It was probably time in 2018.

Exactly. This is main problem with Giannis right now. He was best 2 years ago (2018-19 season). That was his perfect body in terms of strength/speed proportions. But he continued to add mass/muscle and lost flexibility, agility and conditioning. The thing is: he doesn't need that strength the way how he plays. He is changing his body like he plan to play more inside yet he play more and more outside with every new season.

Watch this for maximum annoyance:

Not sure how they blew this one. He was showing more consistent flashes than Thon or DJW ever did.

I long thought Wood would be hampered by his lack of balance. Whether he increased his strength or improved his footwork, that looks addressed. The ballhandling is a development I never would have foreseen. Good on him.

Remember when he was deemed uncoachable because he sent a tweet that he was ready to play and just needed a chance?

Then why was he waived and let so many times around different teams? I get it he is good or better than backups we have had but there must be something about the guy that let so many teams to decide not keeping him ?

I remember when he got more than one chance and consistently played defense at a Parkersian level.
Amos Barshad: "So you got a job, a place to live, a license? What’s left?"

Giannis: “Nothing. Just get a ring now.”

Wood may be one of those guys who has to find the right team. With Harden in Houston he may be there.

ETA: As an example, Sam Merrill might be perfect here, and out of the league everywhere else.

Sorry, just came here to post he's King Trash. Ugliest game in the league. I don't give a flying **** about box score. Bastardizing the game seeking fouls and flailing. Of course he iso master and decent passer but overshadowed by his garbage.

Cool cool, I'll still take the perennial MVP candidate and win the title.

Lot of success so far. Also, I wouldn't want it rooting for such a unwatchable obnoxious player. But whatever.

He was very good for Detroit last year.

True, at the same time last year he had one of those "I've got a green light on a really bad team" situations. Always go back to Johnny Newman or Armen Gilliam (RIP) with the Bucks as examples. Put those guys on a contender and the flaws get exposed quickly.

I remember stating my confusion at letting Wood leave in order to keep Pau Gasol, especially with how much Bucks need talent given their consistent misses in the draft.

Another extremely bad move from the Bucks' FO.

Players change. They get better. They develop.

Also if you follow the NBA (which you do) you should know by now that half of the teams in the NBA are almost clueless at developing and recognizing talent.

As opposed to winning players like Thon and the corpse of Pau Gasol. Or the real reason we let him go Tim Frazier.

I mean, it's kind of a moot point since he's now gotten paid and as such likely Wood  have been gone by now anyway, but I always liked the guy and thought it was a boneheaded move to dump him.

Didn’t think much of the move to not keep him but it’s looking like an incredibly bad move now, ugh. He’s so much more talented than current Brook offensively and I think he can be passable defensively. Jrue/Donte/Khris/Giannis/Wood would’ve been an unbelievably fun and explosive lineup.

Asking out of Milwaukee, only to be also set free by New Orleans, was the best thing for him.

I don't have a problem with cutting him, but we should have brought him back. He'll be an all-star this year. Him and Giannis together with Khris is the greatest front court of all time, or at least since Bird-Mchale-Parrish.

Gasol replaced Wood, Frazier replaced a different scrub.
