I have one (2.5 years now - I was one of the first adopters of the new model), and love it for everything except...they are **** awful in snow. Like seriously.****.awful. Worst car I personally have driven in snow; I get comments from others regularly about how poorly it handles. It's too light on the front end and creates no traction. Snow tires help only minimally. I would not recommend one for a Midwestern winter. I'm getting a new car.
Mike, I was looking at the A3 also. If you test drive one (or get one), let me know what you think. I like that it's not a mid- or full-size sedan; I like smaller cars and don't have need for a large one. Really just want something about the same size as my Elantra, with AWD/4WD/otherwise handles snow well, and has nice tech gadgets.
