Not to change the subject but Newz - you think prime Kobe is inferior to Durant? That's surprising to me. Prime Kobe is an all-time great.

Prime Kobe is one of the top 5-10 wings to ever play the game. I put him below Jordan, LeBron, Bird, Durant and Magic (I don't know where to put Magic position wise... I guess he was a point guard, but he could play all over the damn place. So feel free to disregard him if you don't view him as a wing or whatever, but I feel like he'd be playing the 3 in today's NBA like LeBron does). I think prime Wade was very close to or better than Kobe and Pippen was right there with him. T-Mac before he got crippled was up there with those guys, Jerry West was also amazing.

And at that point, the guys really aren't a ton better than one another... they are just different levels of amazing.

But yeah, I would take Durant over Kobe. I think you can make a pretty good argument that Durant might be the best scorer of all-time. The guy is unreal efficiency wise and I personally don't factor in championships when judging individual greatness. Durant also continues to improve as a passer and his overall game keeps climbing.

I could see people make an argument for Kobe though too. Guy was definitely a stud in his prime, sucks to see him cut down by injuries as the league is in desperate need of talent.

Basically if Wiggins can get even remotely close to any of those guys, then we picked the right player. :D

I don't know how you can say you'd be disappointed just because those players aren't a LeBron or Durant. I think both still have the potential to be difference makers. I still like Wiggins a lot more than Parker, but I've come around on Parker. I'll be excited with any of the top four at this point (yes, Embiid still) The level of excitement will just vary.

Absolutely. :) I'm a big Durant fan but in terms of pure talent I'd take Kobe. I think the totality and versatility of Kobe's all-around talent trumps Durant. But it's not like one guy's great and the other one sucks. We're pretty much splitting hairs here in my opinion. :)

I think he's trying to flush out the exact size of the remaining Exum/Embiid contingent, which would be interesting to know.

I think this will only get the militants. I prefer Embiid (still) and really like Exum a lot, on the level of Parker and Wiggins. I'm just too excited about the guy we're getting to be upset about the rest.

I voted no. The way I see it, I would be thrilled if Embiid goes #2 to the Bucks. I trust our news owners' business acumen enough that I believe they will do their homework into his long-term health potentially affecting his career, dot all the Is and cross all the Ts. If he is the pick, it will mean that all our access to his medical data has resulted in us concluding his recent injury to be completely recoverable and not at all impeding his further NBA career.

All that said, if the Cavs do indeed take Wiggins and then the Bucks take Parker (as is now widely expected), I will not be disappointed. We type away here on the message board, throw out ceilings and floors and character assessments as if we really know. We don't. The beauty of this draft is that we can't make a mistake here. Embiid's newest injury now at best puts him back into the flip-a-coin tier with Wiggins and Parker. At worse, he slides down a tier or two. Parker's athleticism and defense are questions marks, but why pigeon-hole him into a Big Dog/Melo mix as a ceiling? He is his own unique player and might one day end up leading the league in scoring WHILE being a good defender. If you claim that Parker doesn't stand a good chance of one day becoming a top 10 player in the NBA, you either don't know what the hell you're talking about or are arrogantly pessimistic on the guy for your own reasons.

Similarly, Wiggins has question marks of his own - leadership and motor are nothing to be sneezed at. But he also has a good chance of one day becoming a top 10 player in the NBA. That's how loaded this draft is. I truly believe that when it's all said and done, people will look back on 2014 as the best draft since 2003.

Durant's not? He's got 4 scoring titles at age 25.

Durant can't sniff yet those other guys on your list. Putting him above Kobe is laughable, neither for peak nor for career. Also Jerry West is the 2nd best SG of all time.

I guess I disagree. If I have my choice of Kobe at his best or Durant currently, I am taking Durant. Not sure why that's laughable.

This isn't what the thread is supposed to be about though, so I'm not going to get into a big argument over it.

I've wanted E or E since April. I'll be disappointed with either P or W. Especially Parker.

There does need to be more options because I'm 100% fine with Wiggins.

I'm 100% the opposite on Parker. I can talk myself into Parker, but I don't see him as anything other than a scorer. He isn't a defender or shot creator for any one other than himself. There's value in that, but I think the potential Wiggins and Exum carries far outweighs someone who's going to be a good (there is no guarantee at great for him, there just isn't) scorer.

Also, Parker broke his foot as well and I have just as many concerns with that as I do with Embiid.

I reallllyyyy want to trade down and somehow end up with 3 and then 7, 8 or 10, somehow.

Exum
Knight (unless traded, then start Middleton)
Giannis
Pick 7, 8,9 or 10
Sanders

At the rate Embiid is dropping, it doesn't even seem crazy to think he'd be there at 7. Exum and Embiid? Yes please.

I think the real question is - Will the Bucks take advantage of the leverage they have with the 2nd pick. Obviously, rumors get out there that have no validity, but if it's true that Philly (3) is desperate for Wiggins, and that Utah (5) is desperate for Parker, there are moves the Bucks can make to take advantage of that desperation - particularly if they don't tip their hand on who they really want or don't want. For example, if they can get Favors and the 5th for the 2nd and fill in the blank, they might be in position to take a risk on Embiid at 5. If Embiid comes back healthy at some point, not too many teams have a Favors/Embiid combo up front.

I'd be a little disappointed if we took Parker over Wiggins, but overall no.

He absolutely is. As I said in a subsequent post, ultimately we're splitting hairs between two superstars.

No trading out of the 2nd spot. I can't believe people who are fans of this team are willing to tempt fate. You take whoever you think is the best prospect. Period.

As a group, we have picked every scab on these guys. I'm to the point where I expect everyone of Wiggins, Parker, Exum, and Embiid to be run out of the league by the end of summer camp. If you believe all the crap we've laid on each one, you would think they'd be lucky to make the "B' team on the Yakutsk Mining Company Third Shift Fall League. :-?

I will be happy with any of the four, including Embiid & Exum; though I will worry about all four for the next few years.....,

*edit* I will be happy with any, but I prefer them in this order till we hear more on Embiids surgery: Wiggins, Exum, Parker, Embiid, Smart.
