Doug Collins is great and I fully endorse this idea.

I love Doug on TV. I'm unsure about him as a Team President.

He's not as good of a candidate as I am, but I guess I could settle for him.

what are the Team Presidents responsibilities?

will he interfere with Hammond on the team operations ?
does he have final say ?

does the Pres. take lead and help with New Arena discussions/direction ?
sales? marketing? business operations?(which are what, for an nba team?)

before i have my answers,
i feel like the new Team Pres. needs to have experience with getting a New Arena,

with a Bonus, of being known locally, or have some kind of connection with the city or state
-which im guessing our choices of that, is super slim to none

Hasn't it been hinted at that this team president was going to be surveying over the business side of things? In that sense he might be perfectly fine & he has a wealth of experience to bestow on people in the organization.

With Kidd bringing in Grgurich to the bench & this probable hire, the organization is certainly pulling out every damn stop possible when it comes to fielding a quality staff.

Collins would become defacto GM then right? Are we happy with that?

No he wouldn't be if the rumor that the person getting this position was going to oversee business operations holds true.

I like the idea of a veteran coach being in the organization to help mentor and keep an eye on Kidd.

Also like the idea of Hammond having some manner of superior permanently in Milwaukee.

I don't like the idea of Doug Collins being the top level decision maker over player transactions if he were to have an impatient trigger finger.

But if the distance from the hard wood allows him to plan longer term before going all out on win now then Collins could work out great!

Because of that, I think this is nothing. He has zero experience from what I can tell running anything on the operations side. He has never run the ticket office, the sales guys, managed game day ops, managed food vendors, booked half time entertainment, etc. There are so many things that you have to do in that job he has never done. There are so many other people out there vastly more qualified too. Not to say he isn't smart enough to do it but I just don't see him taking the position or the Bucks offering it to him if that will be the job responsibilities.

Our pursuit of Kidd seemed to come out of nowhere and contrasted with what our owners had been saying about hiring a team president first.

Wouldn't put it past them to have another curve-ball of a hire even if they have been talking about someone more focused on the business side recently.

Both Kidd and Collins are real passionate, volatile guys. This could be either really brilliant or really explosive....

Kind of to Big Kurty's point, I don't see that Collins has the business side experience, but then maybe L&E's CFO gets that gig?

*edit* The earlier point about managing the arena build is also real critical too, but maybe L&E remain as the Front Men on that project till the foundation gets poured, then it passes to someone else?

I don't think he's the guy.

No. No. No.

Doug Collins recently told Mike Jenson of the Philadelphia Inquirer that he prefers to rely on his gut instinct rather than statistical analysis.

"No. If I [were an analytics guy], I'd blow my brains out," Collins said about the subject.

"My analytics are here . . .and here" Collins said, pointing to his head and to his gut.

Yeah Collins is a bit Skilesy for my liking. Say no to basketball dinosaurs.

Love Collins as a broadcaster. I think he's a very smart basketball guy.

I am not sold on him as a leader or if he's qualified to be team president.

He would represent a big name hiring and something I could see our owners doing.

I'm not so sure about him. I like his smarts, not sure on the rest.

So, we (theoretically) went from Cronies/Hammond/Drew to Collins/Hammond/Kidd in 6 months? I'd say the credibility factor has improved. By a lot.

I don't like it. Did you guys all forget how hard Kohl pushed to get Collins?
