After trading Plumlee I think Brook Lopez is going to get a stupid contract offer from the Nets. I bet they are terrified of him going to a team with their former owner and coach and star while they languish with no draft picks for years to come. I'm real concerned about offering Lopez a 4 year max deal, and if the Nets go 5 years he would have to really badly want out of there to choose us.

I could get into Jordan. Paying him max wouldn't be so bad since it would be ending around when Giannis / Parker would be getting extended. Unlike Lopez he does not have an injury history, and unlike Chandler he would be a young star to build around.

Getting Jordan to pick us is the tough part. If he's leaving LA because he doesn't want to be treated like he is on a tier below a teammate like he is with Chris Paul, then it may come down to how much his ego is stroked. The main difference in Milwaukee vs Dallas is that we have a young team with rising stars (in a sad sack conference) as opposed to an aging star handing off the torch with little else on the team.

Otherwise it's a battle between Kidd and Cuban's recruiting prowess.

Dudley will stay here and help pitch Jordan...my guess. It wouldnt be hard to move Zaza, Bayless or Mayo to free up the space needed.

Let me get this straight.....You think it will be easy to give away Zaza, Bayless, Mayo?

I don't want either......they will have 4 starters who all play in the lane...and chandler has zero offensive skills

Hmmm, that Mayo or ZaZa for Haywood idea is sounding pretty good right now...Too bad we pissed away that Clipper pick, which would probably have been enough of a sweetener to get it done.

Yes. What you think it would be hard to move any of those guys who are on an expiring deal? You dont think you could move Bayless for a 2nd rd pick? Or the Bucks do a S&T with the Clippers and put Bayless or OJ or Zaza in it. I think moving any 1 of those 3 is the easy part.

I think we could move Zaza or Bayless relatively easily. I don't even think they're overpaid. They just weren't a great use of our cap space.

With the lack of moves in terms of bigs last night, might as well pencil in either of the Lopez brothers or Chandler. Most likely Tyson, since Schwartz is his agent.

I'm going to be really excited to be linked to Jordan and Chandler, and then really disappointed when we have to attach a first to move salary and then find out that Jordan opts to return to the Clippers and Chandler ends up back with the Mavs.

Although, after clicking the link you so generously provided in your sig, one name jumped out at me like a spider in the bathtub: Pekovic.

Offensive post threat center with good rebounding ability who is now expendable and is a Schwartz client?

Uh oh.

Definitely would love picking up Jordan even on max money. While Jordan isn't the offensive player the Bucks could use, they couldn't find many other ways to spend $20 million better if they are trying to win now. Hamstringing themselves with GV trade and not being able to offer full max is that much more stupefying when you have the off chance to pick up a difference maker (jeebus I hate the Vasquez deal on so many levels).

This would take care of the rebounding and physical play Hammond had on his list of offseason needs.

I still think Marc Gasol is the prize, but this is a close second best with Chandler coming in third for me...and this is just going off FA signings. I can definitely still see a trade being made either separately or instead.

Free agency is going to be where we see the direction, I'm coming to terms with what happened last night.
Bucks fan since day one. Go Bucks!

Ah, I just had the same thought about an hour after you, but mine was one of fear and despair. He is a Sean Kennedy which is still Excel Sports Management though

Free Agency Thread - kicking the tires on Jordan?

If we really want to make a run at him, we probably have to have a plan to give away Mayo or Bayless. Otherwise I don't think we have the cap space to sign max guys like Jordan or Lopez (if he's really a max guy) any more.

Or maybe it'd be a sign and trade. Our best shot would probably be if we are the Clippers' preferred spot to deal him.

I don't think Dallas is so enticing an option other than the Cuban factor. Dirk is old, Parsons had a bad knee injury, Ellis is leaving for nothing. And the Lakers still have Kobe, plus Jordan would be cast as a villain for going to the other LA team.

Also trading the Clippers pick right before we make a run at Deandre would be odd. But if we sign him no one would care.

I think a defensive/rebounding big man is exactly what the Bucks need. Kidd is putting together a similar (but younger) version of the team that he won a title with in 2011. The only thing missing is a rim protector. The offense won't run through the center. He's only there to play defense, get put backs, and catch the occasional lob pass.

I don't think the Bucks end up with DeAndre though. He's repeatedly stated that he wants to return to Texas to play. Mavs are prepared to offer him a Max deal and are also pursuing Danny Green. They still need a PG but a core of Jordan, Dirk, Parsons, and Green should be able to lure one to Dallas. Another option for Dallas has been Tyson used in a sign and trade to get DeAndre.

Dear God. I'm going to have nightmares.

An abject failure on the defensive end who has range out to the restricted circle, whose body has completely broken down, making 12M each of the next 3 years, has close ties to our FO,

That **** is scarier than any Stephen King book.

Dallas is an enticing situation for Jordan and Cuban will undoubtedly pull out all the stops.

But insofar as a championship is concerned the Mavs don't have many other assets to pick up supporting talent. It looks like they are about to lose Monta for nothing, and if they miss on Danny Green, I don't know if they have a good backup plan.

In contrast, Jordan could clearly see how helming a defense with Giannis and MCW would be beastly.

Jason Kidd will also sell him on how he of all people knows how to set up the offense to maximize the talents of a big man like Deandre. That is one place where the Tornoto trade could help us if Kidd pushes the idea that the combination of MCW and Vasquez will constantly feed Jordan for easy buckets.
