I was with there with (H)Akeem after a Rockets game his rookie year while those guys were getting food after the game. Was during a blizzard and we got in a snowball fight after they left McDonalds and headed back out onto State Street. Lewis Lloyd claimed it was the first time Akeem ever experienced snow in his life. Robert Reid, Mitchell Wiggins, Lewis Lloyd and Akeem. Good times. Good times.

I think about a year ago Dave Sobelman tweeted about a partnership with the bucks. I wonder if that's for this upcoming season or for the new stadium?

Just a few thoughts. So excited to be able to take my 2.5 drive for games for years to come. All the calls to the politicians and a talk to the county board meeting worth it. Proud to be a great fan like all the rest of you. Great job people. See you all soon. Still wanna have a realgm party in Peshtigo!

Would anyone else think it would be cool to have a pool or something where we predict what company gets the naming rights? I know we were thinking of having a groundbreaking one. My money is on BMO Harris or Northwestern Mutual.

I've enjoyed the HOB clubs I've been in.

State Fair had a tent called The Micro that had some good beers. There was some disgruntled brewers as outlined in the link. If done right in the new development they should be able to accommodate any Wisconsin brewer. I'll be bitterly disappointed if Miller or Bud get some kind of exclusive access.

Would love spotted cow at a Bucks game but don't think the brewery could afford the pay to play money to be involved with the Bucks.

I'm sure one of the big brands will pay something large to get exclusivity. Have you ever been to a stadium/arena related sporting event anywhere in the country where they were serving both coke and pepsi or both miller and bud?

I was looking at some restaurant franchising last year and the HQ of the place I was at was talking about how Pepsi pays big $$ to be the exclusive drink for even smaller franchises.

A big brewery will probably get the contract for the arena. That's pretty much inevitable. I just hope there are better options in the rest of the development.

Can't you already get Spotted Cow at BMO? They have craft and microbrewery areas

The owners have hired people who are on the cutting edge in their fields; logo/Jersey design, training, coaching, etc. I'm sure they won't let one of the fastest growing industries in the world in craft beer slip past them.

Yeah I can't imagine there not being a few smaller areas where you can get New Glarus, Ale Asylum, etc. in the new arena. I don't mind having to go a little out of the way.

So many good times before the BC built. Ran in to Julius Erving, Cadwell Jones, and Andrew Toney walking from the Hyatt to Mecca before a spring playoff game. They where checking out my fiance, and we just smiled and wished them good health and a loss. Ran in different players after big games at local establishments, Lanier and Nelson was great to party with.

Man I loved '80's NBA basketball, and as I have mentioned before, this feels like a rebirth just as it did back in 1978 with the direct the team was heading with a young squad.

Personally, I remember being quite underwhelmed when I went to the BC for the first time and this was in 1989, the first season it was open (I do recall it was vs. Golden State and the twin towers of Ralph Sampson & Manute Bol). It just resembled a bloated concrete warehouse, compared to the more intimate infrastructure of the MECCA. I was disturbed as to why they needed a new arena in the first place, but being only 16 at the time, I didn't yet understand the revenue purposes of luxury suites, etc. But, you're right - the new place is going to be incredible.

The craft beer will be most likely determined by the distributor who gets the rights at the new arena. If they don't distribute your favorite beer, then you won't see it there.

It's why you no longer see certain craft beers at Brewer's games, and why you see the specific craft beers you do at Bucks games.

http://drinks.seriouseats.com/2014/01/craft-beer-three-tier-system-pros-cons-distributor-retailer-debate.html

Distributors generally have an exclusivity agreement with a brewery, so only one distributor is allowed to sell that brewery's beer in each region. But it goes further than that: in most states, there are rules called franchise laws that ensure that breweries usually cannot easily end distribution contracts. These laws were instituted to keep the biggest breweries from taking advantage of the fact that a threat to take their business elsewhere could get them whatever they want from their wholesalers. That's a purpose franchise laws serve well, but there's a dark side, too. Because breweries cannot easily break their contracts with distributors, they can be stuck with poorly-performing or negligent companies that are the only ones with the right to sell the brewery's beer.

Barclay's Center has a practice court within the new arena.

You can rent it out. I hope we see one of these in the new arena.

Those brewery/distributor/retailer laws went on the books decades ago so no one entity could control the market. It's time for the laws to change. That's why the owner of Sanford, Justin Aprahamian, was turned down recently when he wanted to open a micro brewery here. He wasn't allowed to because he holds a retail liquor license. So he's building in Chicago.

I've been hoping for something like that. Something like the AL at Marquette. The AL used to host high school games and high school tournament games in the spring, it was a great venue for that. But then the NCAA said high school games couldn't be played there because it was on campus and gave Marquette an unfair edge.

I hope we hear some great Nellie stories from Marques. I imagine there are a lot of them.

And it would be great to get Nellie back here from time to time. That was never going to happen with Kohl.
