Hammond most overrated buck employee on this board. He drafted Giannis , congrats he took a risk doesn't mean he is a great GM.

Maybe we should keep him until June 23rd. Then he gets to manage the draft (his strong point) and he is gone before free agency (his weak point).

I don't think anyone outside of brand new Bucks fans consider Hammond a great or even good GM. We just acknowledge that hes done pretty alright in the draft and seems to be a quality talent evaluator.

Considering there's been a lot of chatter about Alex Martins meddling with personnel decisions in ORL (see Skiles, Scooter), it would only be fitting for Hammond to end up there.

Two winning seasons out of 9. Zero playoff series wins in 9 years. NINE YEARS.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

during his term as GM he's managed to make some tremendous deals to shed bad contracts

he's also willing to take risks in the draft, and is fantastic at finding quality players in the second round

if not for Herb Kohl meddling for the first half of his career, and now new ownership/Jason Kidd influencing other recent drafts and trades.....he'd be viewed much more fondly

you cannot fault him for being handcuffed

Contracts that he gave out to begin with.

even if he DID give them out, at least he's able to recognize a mistake and move on from it

THAT is what a good GM should do

how many playoff series have we won in the last 30 years?

issue isn't the gm. its the city and ownership

thru the stewardship of john Hammond we may be on the verge of overcoming both of those challenges for the 2nd time in his tenure. injuries sabotaged FTD.... I only pray that after raising us back from the dead a second time we have better health building with giannis

When you're making dumb contract decisions over two ownership groups and several coaches, it falls on you, too.

Hammond hit a grand slam on the draft this year.

But then we once again entered a season with a clear mismash of a roster.

The Snell trade absolutely helped. And any team losing the equivalent of Middleton + Jabari would be jarring.

On the flipside extending Plumlee as well as keeping Henson never made sense -- especially considering we were thin basically everywhere else.

Things worked out for the best with Monroe and Maker turned it way up to close out the year but our rotation at the 5 was awful the vast majority of the season.

And then our absence of depth basically doomed us in the playoffs with the team obviously running out of gas down the stretch.

It doesn't fly with me to give credit to someone when things go well (Hammond is great, he drafted Giannis, Brogdon, etc..) and give him no blame for the crap (Hammond was forced into all the bad, horrible contracts).

his worst deal was an mle deal to drew gooden. that's literally the ONLY deal in 9 years he couldn't move. to have just one bad mle deal and literally not a single other immoveable deal in a decade is a amazing. the idea he made a bunch of bad horrible contracts is just a straight up mistelling

Exactly. Part of your JOB as GENERAL MANAGER is to be able to explain your position and actually convince those above you as to why a move is right or wrong.

This laughable idea that nothing that went wrong is his fault, because of meddling from whomever is stupid.
Amos Barshad: "So you got a job, a place to live, a license? What’s left?"

Giannis: “Nothing. Just get a ring now.”

Just hire me as Bucks GM and I will win rings !!!

Teams can trade GMs + Coaches + ....

So if Orlando wants Hammond than it goes like this ...

Hammond + Kidd + Coaching Staff + Henson + Telly for Ross + Vucevic and a pick swap ... Bucks get #5 Orlando gets #17

Bucks hire Fotis St as GM, a well known poster in realgm forum. Front Office and scouts come from realgm forum too.

Fotis St hires Kevin McHale and Dimitris Itoudis

Fotis St picks at #5 Jason Tatum

Bucks win 3 NBA Championships in row 2020,2021,2022

Don't forget the bad luck of having to play in the blood bath that is the Eastern Conference.
